Review: Young Bleed – My Balls and My Word

Young Bleed – My Balls and My Word is one of the best Baton Rouge rap albums of 1998 and is easily a top 5 No Limit release that any No Limit fan should recognize. Especially you hardcore NL fans and stans. His lyrical content and delivery have direction over spacious rhymes. His talent flourishes on every song as the production flourishes as well. The production was unusual for a No Limit and Priority album. The album had sort of a West Coast G-Funk sound over East Coast beats. It’s uncommon to find an album this strong in this day and age. He gives you nothing but balls and his word.

Young Bleed had a major roll in putting Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the map of hip hop/rap! This was the album that had his iconic and best-selling song to date called How Ya Do That. How Ya Do That had a major role in putting Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the map. That hit helped make this album become a gold success that would later turn into a platinum success. C-Loc Records had pool of talent in the 1990s which included Young Bleed, Boo, Max Minelli, and C-Loc.

Young Bleed explains how it costs to be the boss on Pull It Off. He explains all the responsibilities and duties of being a boss. The song exemplifies the necessities of a true player. He speaks of the world in all its glory and ugliness. They say to play with a man’s money is to play with a man’s life. And to play with a man’s life means you’re playin’ with your life. That is the message of the song.

If it’s a cost to be a boss, Young Bleed will be hustlin’ high without a doubt. But it gets wicked for real. Money makes the caper. But money also makes them player hate. So watch your back. There is a cost that comes with being a boss. That is why Young Bleed is in the same clothes he wore yesterday trying to take the stress away. Watching through the strife. Struggle and fight are the plight to excel. In a country (well county) full of junkies and river queens. He is a baller that is trying to protect his paper from them haters.

Young Bleed explains how he came out harder and better than last time on Better Than Last Time. The song helps showcase his lyrical delivery along with label mates Max Minelli and C-Loc. You gotta go get yours and make your shit better than the last time. So if you got something on your mind, then make it better than the last time. That is the message of the song.

Max Minelli killed that shit! Max Minelli shined heavy on this song. He killed the song with this cold line and delivery of his which went, “So cold and grab the mic and turn that bitch into an icicle”. He does not get the credit he deserves and never got his just due which is truly criminal.

Young Bleed has been hustlin’ all his motherfucking life. Niggas are trippin’ and player hating. When he wanted to have it, he knew where to look. He did not bitch and complain.

All Young Bleed wants for Christmas is 12 gold teeth, afresh candy blue Jeep, and a four-four heat. He is pot-headed on some cold streaks. The world makes him feel it’s the thing for him. Fuck being something else. Because Young Bleed can hustle and struggle by himself. And bein’ mad at the world ain’t the thang to be. People pass by saying that they wish him well. But in reality he knows these hoes wish him hell. In reality he will hold up. That is the reality.

So what’s the way for a young black nigga today? Rob folks and sell dope. That’s what I figured you’d say. You gotta make money. And if they act funny then take money. So if you got something on your mind, then make it better than the last time.

Man, why y’all wanna take the world from a nigga who ain’t got shit yet? They tell Max Minelli player haters wish him the worst. But he has that fire that will get you roasted. Get your game on the level of mind and we could grind. Because when the world is on fire, all the weed gonna blow. He rolls with a clique full of straight savage ass pistol shooters and he is ready to wrap his paws around the wheels of a Land Cruiser. Lo and behold, you see him slang dope for the cause. The shit C-Loc Records designed blows your mind was made better than the last time.

Confedi is about how everyone in life wants money and strives for something better. We’re all geeking for the loot. Everybody is fiending for fetti. That’s how it is. His delivery and flow are on point.

Young Bleed gave audiences an offer they couldn’t refuse with the lyrical delivery over spacious rhymes on the song “An Offer U Can’t Refuse”. He will give you a proposition that you can’t refuse with his lyrics. He is in it to win. And he will never lose. Nothing but balls and his word.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: Kane & Abel – Am I My Brothers Keeper

Am I My Brothers Keeper by Kane & Abel is one of the best albums from a rap duo on the No Limit label. The album is a certified hood classic with hardcore gangsta lyrics and stellar production from Beats By The Pound. 1998 was one of the best years for No Limit as this album along with Ghetto D helped No Limit gain acceptance with mainstream audiences. Any No Limit fan will tell you this album is a certified 5/5***** star album!

The recording process for the album lapsed from 1996 to 1998. Some songs were recorded in 1996 while other songs were recorded in 1998. Pen N Pixel designed the album cover and artwork in 1998 as they designed a majority of No Limit’s albums, movies, toys, and posters during that time. However the logo for the duo was designed sometime in 1996.

Soldier Story is one of the realist songs on the album with a hint of reality rap as the song is based on real experiences both Kane & Abel had been through with their own family members. Such as Abel’s mother being addicted to crack cocaine. This is a bit of reality rap and gangsta rap.

Abel explained how crack cocaine tore his family apart. His mother is on that crack cocaine. His father is absent from his life. Crack tore apart their family tree. His mother is steady blaming Abel even though it is not his fault. The feds swept through as if Kane & Abel was making crack sales. Now he is trying to make some cash with an uzi and a black mask. All Abel wanted to be was a No Limit soldier.

What the fuck would you do? Drop them or let em drop you? Abel chose dropping the cop because the cops got a Glock too. Abel has got himself a Glock and some Glocks for them niggas on his block. His own mother tried to stab him under the pretense of obtaining more crack and out of fear. So he moved out. But all good things don’t last. The Task Force came fast and busted his black ass. Now his little brother wants to follow in his footsteps. Walking through the streets selling this crack shit.

Niggas don’t wanna try Kane because they will get shot down. Now he is packing a Glock since his twin brother’s locked down. Niggas get touched. So don’t step to this. So many crooked cops had got shot down. And the rest gets hectic. Making you and busters get an exit. Kane is coming for your ass as fast as Flash Gordon. He’ll be making straight head shots. He can still hear his mother’s shout. Follow in the tracks of a soldier.

Kane & Abel showed how there was no turning back for them as a duo as they were reaching the boundaries beyond the point of no return on their song No Turnin’ Back. You can either kill them now or wait for them to return and kill you. Don’t hesitate to pull a trigger and waste. Kane & Abel were gangstafied to the realest on this track.

Kane is still in the ghetto with some metal with some metal to wet you. He plays the game as his duo takes it to another level past the point of no return. Kane & Abel are knocking niggas out make some motherfucking Robitussin in grams. Somebody pray for Kane as several street thugs strip him for murder tactics.

Kane & Abel get aggressive and combative with the other No Limit soldiers as they prepare for lyrical combat and an all out verbal war on ’Bout That Combat. Kane & Abel are bout that combat.

Throw your weapons and grab your gats. This is the time for combat and killing. Kane & Abel are knocking niggas heads off by delivering these murder raps. There’s a high blood count due to capital contract blood spilling’s to put that ass in the coma like ebola. That is why there are sneaky killings on the low low. Haters run like track a s they are too intimidated to bust back. Kane & Abel are bout that combat.

You niggas act like they don’t know Full Blooded. Da Hound from Gert Town. This nigga had done shit back in ’94 with P. Things start to get scary when he lights go out. This is because Full Blooded is going all out in combat. Way out.

Greens, Cornbread, and Cabbage is about earning that money. It’s all about that money. Master P snapped on Greens, Cornbread, and Cabbage by killing shit with his gangsta lyrical ability. The underrated NOLA rap group added that gumbo spice to the mix with their lyrics. Greens, Cornbread, and Cabbage is the best song on the album next to Soldier Story.

Hoes in the club showing love. Ask Tela. Master P got hoes on the beeper just like mosquitoes. Niggas want to fuck with the P because he’s making scrilla. He has been labeled and tagged as your neighborhood dealer. He has got this game gripped and got the hoes wanting sacks. And has got niggas in the hood waiting on me for crack. Fifteen five for a key.

He ain’t Scarface but somehow he got the money and the power while living in the South. Bitches getting broked on for motherfucking P. It’s all about the 20’s and the 50’s. It’s all about his scrilla. Trying to get his paper. Got them beans trying to flip them dope fiends hundreds. Big Mo got that mack 11-9 for y’all killers. Big Boz got that AK and that’s real. Now a nigga got the shit gangstafied like Kane & Abel. Niggas got more clientele than niggas got cable. Niggas trying to get greens, cornbread, and cabbage.

Kane is on top because he got rocks and because he has scrilla. This paper got him rich. Quick to run up in that pussy with a hard dick. He took a little scrilla like the killer he is. Starting late in the hood got him paid scoring like Reggie Miller. Representing like a senator. Smoking hay bitch a hundred down like predator. Niggas trying to get them greens, cornbread, and cabbage.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: Little D – Lil D

The Little D album called Lil D – Lil D has that crossover appeal due to that pop rap sound. No Limit was influenced by the crossover market during that time. Even though Little D is a rapper, he leaned towards that pop sound. XL, C-Los, Master P, Silkk, and Lil Romeo were responsible for the production of his debut album.

The Little D album called Lil D – Lil D was supposed to be Little D’s second solo album on the No Limit label which was scheduled to be released in 2002. However that date got pushed back to some time in 2003 because of the focus on Lil Romeo at the time as Lil Romeo’s career was a top priority for the label. As a result of his popularity, Lil Romeo’s album was released before Lil D’s album.

The Little D album called Lil D – Lil D was first advertised in the album Choppa – Straight From The N.O. and was also advertised in the COMING SOON section of the album Magic – White Eyes back in 2003.

Not many people know this but Little D/Lil D (Donavin Hogan) is Lil Romeo’s who is from Houston, Texas. He and Romeo were tour mates during the early part of the 21st century. That’s the reason why Lil Romeo is all over his album. That’s also the reason why Little D was all over Lil Romeo’s sophomore album Game Time. Little D is also Silkk The Shocker’s nephew. These days Lil D goes by D The Business.

Clap Your Hands (Clap Yo Hands) is a silly children’s song with quirky synths and pads performed by Lil Romeo and Little D. The song is a duo. Clap Your Hands (Clap Yo Hands) was used on Lil Romeo’s 2002 album Game Time.

So if you like Lil Romeo, Little D, No Limit, and Master P, clap your hands. Little D loves ballin and flossin. He is not one for talking. He shops often. He has been in love ballin ever since started crawling. Girls calling while he’s performing. Little D is hot now. So he’s come here to shake the spot. Little D is in the 6th grade but you know he’s got bank. He rolls with a tank. Platinum iced out from his neck and wrist. He’s got a couple of candy girls that laid the zone. When the school bell rings, you know it’s on.

Play Like Us was recorded during the time Little D’s Meet Me At The Playground album was being recorded but was used on Lil Romeo’s Game Time album since he wrote a majority of the song. The song had featured Lil Romeo, Lil D, and Tyron. Play Like Us was Number 1 on the Billboard Charts for a while back in 2002. Play Like Us was played on a Static Shock episode called “Romeo In The Mix”. The song was also used seasons 1 and 2 of of The Romeo! Show.

All the girls gonna be at the playground where Lil Romeo and Lil D are So y’all know where they’re gonna be at. Holla. If you feeling Richie Rich play with the girlies screaming every day. And you can play your ice this way. But can they hate? No way.

Lil Romeo was the youngest solider from the No Limit tank who had got the game fitted with The New No Limit back in 2002. The Game Time album kept the No Limit tank afloat. From Romie Rome to Richie Rich. Don’t talk about dough ’cause he been had it. Learn the game quick and ya’ll know who the teacher is. He is number 1 on the Billboard Charts. Lil Romeo is half kid half amazing.

There ain’t too many players that could hang with Lil Romeo, Lil D, and Tryon. When they step up on the scene they are looking marvelous. All the haters say they ain’t old enough. When the beat go just throw your hands up. Better hold on tight cause we about to bust. All the girlies rushing up to the cadillac truck. Richie Rich and Tyron, can you dig it?

Lil Romeo knows about cars and clothes. He paid the cost to be the boss in this music game. Lil Romeo is from the South. So he bites like a gator. Another year passed so his game got greater. Court side seats for the Sixers and the Lakers. Check out the wrist ice big like a blazer. The kid got flavor. He’s where you wanna be. You can’t stop him.

Little D is in the 6th grade but you know he’s got bank. He rolls with a tank. Platinum iced out from his neck and wrist. He’s got a couple of candy girls that laid the zone. When the school bell rings, you know it’s on.

[Lil D]
Call Lil D and I roll wit a tank
I’m in the sixth grade but you know I got bank
Platinum iced out when I roll the fees
Yo when the school bell ring baby roll wit me
Chrome wheeling standing pink baby sittin on chrome
Iced out from my neck and my wrist all
Two Way Lil Romeo and you know it’s on
Got a couple candy girls that laid the zone

Bobblehead was a song memorable for its catchy lyrics and horns. The chorus is no exception. Everything about this song from the beats to the synths, horns, and pads along with lyrics screams mid-2000s. You can hear the influence Southern rap, pop rap, and children’s music have on this song. Bobblehead was the catchy lead single for his 2004 album Romeoland.

The song is memorable for its catchy lyrics and horns. The chorus is no exception. The catchy lyrics to the chorus which went like this.

[Chorus]
I didn’t come to run, I came to make you move
Take it to the floor, and act a fool
Shake it, shake it, shake it like a bobblehead
Shake it, shake it, shake it like a bobblehead

Now Lil Romeo does use some kid friendly lyrics in the song such as “You got ants in your pants and you need to dance Bounce up and down like a rubberband”

Here are some of the catchy lyrics that were used in the song.

Work ya body, move your feet
Bounce it like a ball, shake it to the beat

Go shorty, it’s your birthday
Like you school bell ring on the first day
Move it like a fly girl

You got ants in your pants and you need to dance
Bounce up and down like a rubberband

Lil Romeo didn’t come to run. He came to make you move. So take it to the floor and act a fool. Shake it, shake it, shake it like a bobblehead.

Romeo’s in the house and the party is pumpin’. The crowd is jumpin’. Everyone is ecstatic. Work your body and move your feet. Bounce it like a ball and shake it to the beat. Go shorty, it’s your birthday. Like you school bell ring on the first day. Move it like a fly girl.

Lil D is in here. You know that his wrist glow. If you came to party, shorty, you and Lil D can take it to the floor. If your girl wants to leave, Lil D suggests you let her go. So you better stay in line.

Making moves like a rollercoaster. Lean low then shake them shoulders. But first, you gotta bounce to this. Lil D’s chain so icy even his diamonds got diamonds. Lil D was born to be a soldier and has got a heart of a lion. No Limit don’t mess with no fakers. They’ll make you lose your squad like the LA Lakers.

Lil Romeo is just chillin and them girls are partying. He is trying to see if they can move like Indians. You know work it a little bit. Dip it low a little bit like Christina Milian. Lil Romeo is like 50 and Young Buck because he always roll with banks. So you know what’s up.

If you don’t like Lil Romeo, then you not with him. But its most likely that he’s got the tank with him all over the globe, He is a coast to coast G. A living legend like Mike and Kobe. If you don’t know then don’t speak about him. His flow too sick and too hard to fix. You’ll probably need some medical attention for this.

Lil Romeo pays homage and tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. with these lyrics in Verse 1. “Girl you looking cute, you came to dance/I’m like Biggie, baby give me one more chance”

I rate this album 3/5***.

Review: 504 Boyz – Ballers

The 504 Boyz – Ballers album was the definition of commercial pop rap sound of 2002. This is because Master P shifted towards releasing albums with more of a commercial pop rap sound for the No Limit Records label. This changed the sound and direction of No Limit Records. No Limit was influenced by the crossover market during that time. So don’t be shocked to find out this album is a contrast departure from the Goodfellas album that was released in 2000.

The 504 Boyz – Ballers album was a family affair all right. In fact some of the rappers including his own son outshine Master P. Unfortunately for Master P, his own son outshines his father on each song that he is featured on such as Tight Whips and Get Back.

Everywhere I Go is about how people are always constantly asking Curren$y questions. Curren$y has to deal with haters and naysayers everywhere he goes. All because he flows so tight. Ezell Swang produced Everywhere I Go which was used on the 2002 album 504 Boyz – Ballers.

A lot of niggas are saying they don’t like Curren$y because he flows so tightly, His wrist wear glows so brightly. But Curren$y ain’t gonna quit. Niggas know he goes hard in the paint. He won’t settle for shit.

You might see Curren$y on the block pull up in a 720′ Bentley with a drop or doing donuts in a Viper. He probably won’t quit until he burns the grip off his tires.

Curren$y is going to take a vacation with a couple of honeys on the yacht today. And later on tonight. Curren$y is the don of this rap shit. His album is going platinum. Y’all niggas is going double plastic. Shit will get tragic if one of you fools choose to make him use his automatic. You don’t want to hear the sounds of click-clack-blow. He is here to show you how he gets down.

Now everywhere he goes people ask constantly ask him questions such as where he lives for. He tells the people who ask him questions, “Money, hoes and clothes is all a nigga know. And when I get my chips, you know what I’m a go and get. A house and kicks. And a couple of whips.”

Now when he pulls up niggas running like Trans cars. That’ll buck backwards in a black Jaguar. You niggas is actors. Hot Spitter is the truth. Curren$y sets fire to the mic, when he step in the booth of the recording studio. There is no one like in around town in New Orleans, Louisiana. You don’t want none of Curren$y because he is the man. Why do you niggas want to rhyme like Curren$y? You can’t spit like you lost just a life or a grand. Watch the women run behind his jeep when he leaves the recording studio. Now peep him. Stay smooth and calm.

Members of 504 Boyz and Afficial brag about how they are living the good life with their good lavish lifestyle on the track My Life is Sweet.

Their life is sweet. You could tell by the Benz, the Beamers, and the Jeeps with big wheels and big grills which make them people say oooh-weee. Custom made Bentleys with TV’s and mink seats too. Afficial raps slowly up on the block with a gun and a package as they are putting in work in the streets and in the studio. All the product of speed to match Master P’s work ethic. See all these chicks wanna get with Afficial.

I thought I told you. The flow don’t stop. And it ain’t No Limit on the stage if the show don’t rock. There ain’t No Limit on the stage. You can still catch Afficial up in them clubs in that 2K3 Yukon sitting up on them dubs. When S-Flames gows to the lot, they call S-Flames Connect Four because he bought four cars with four doors. He spent another million dollars to put diamonds on the grill. He gets paid every month like child support. It’s real. While you cats come up slow like Lamborghini doors, you might see S-Flames in a Range Rover or a Porsche Lamborghini by himself or with the members of Afficial depending on the case or situation.

S-Flames lyrics are playful and whimsical here. Read his lyrics.

[S-Flames]
When I go to the lot, they call me Connect Four
Cause I bought four cars on the road, with four doors
Spend another mill, put diamonds on the grill
Push a button, and my gun pop out the steering wheel
It’s real, stack dough and make more
While you cats come up slow, like Lamborgini doors
You might see me in a Range, you might see me in a Porsche
I get paid every month, like child support

Yukon was lit with the punchlines in his lyrics. Read his lyrics.

You can still, catch me up in them clubs
In that 2K3 Yukon, sitting up on them dubs
Since they wanna know, about my whip
I’ma tell em like this, I got enough keys to start a dealership
Now how they think they floss toys
When we in places, so far from home they call us the Lost Boys

With Me was a duo track with Choppa and Curren$y. Master P featured on this track also.

Now Choppa be marching like a soldier with No Limit army right behind him. On that Westbank is where you might find him. He’s all about getting that dolla. mHe can pull a Prada model, t-shirt holla wobble wobble. Later during the beginning of the song is where Choppa is at the club. He pops a bottle at the bar. The henny is turning green after being mixed.

We in the club pop a bottle, at the bar
Tell your girl stop tripping, she could holla at a star
Hypnotic in the car, is all I need to get mean
We could mix it
Like one say, left to the right right, to the left left, to the right
Let me see you bounce with me, East to the West
North to the South, back to the house, come blow a ounce with me

[Hook – 2x]
All my soldiers with me (yeah)
All my whodis with me (yeah)
If you hustle hard for a nigga praying (yeah)
My soldierettes with me (yeah)
My independent women (yeah)
Them hoes hatin’ cause you looking good (hell yeah)

Things gets wild like New Orleans during Mardi Gras on the second verse. Read the lyrics below.:

Everybody throw your dranks up, soldiers throw your tanks up
Hit the flo’, wild out, everybody drink something
It’s your set, throw it up, show me where the fuck you from
What you drinking mix it with this, hit this weed and have some fun
Girls got they butts up, y’all know what’s up
We drinking this straight out the bottle, whodi put them cups up
I’m from the home of the Queen, that they call Anna

Who’s up next? Curren$y is! Curren$y came to represent New Orleans, Louisiana. He at gets a chance to showcase his lyrical skills. He showcases his lyrical abilities and skills with his rhymes.

Curren$y pulls up in a big truck on a set of twenty three’s (23 inch rims aka 23’s). He has $20,000 of cash in the pocket of his P. Miller jeans. Playa hatas are mad as they wish they could rid of him. He is always on the radio. He keeps the burner with him as he never on the streets without it. The women form a crowd around the limo as Curren$y hops out it.

And my money hell-a-long, cause I just got a check from P
Huh bitches to Hot Spitter, you fuck around if you want
And watch how quick a nigga, send you to the hospital
Stick this baretta to your braids, me and my soldiers
Sticking together like Franky Beverly and me

These lyrics showed how Curren$y was the hot spitta. “And my money hell-a-long, cause I just got a check from P/Huh bitches to Hot Spitter, you fuck around if you want”

I rate this album 5/5*****!

Review: Master P – Only God Can Judge Me

Only God Can Judge Me showcased the more religious side of Master P with Christian themed songs such as Only God Can Judge Me and Ghetto Prayer. You also have your lyrical songs such as Return of da Don, Say Brah, Stop Playing Wit Me, Ice on My Wrist, Y’all Don’t Want None, and Oh Na Nae. Many regarded this album as not of Master P’s greatest efforts. However there is a balance with the production and guest artists spotlight. But the guest artists take most of the spotlight.

Master P showcased his religious side when he performed a Hail Mary in style, melody, and tune of Aaliyah – If Your Girl Only Knew. You can hear Master P as he prays in the background.

The Hail Mary is sung in the same melody as the chorus to Aaliyah – If Your Girl Only Knew.

{Master P prays in the background}
Our father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven

{singing part comes in} + {Hail Mary spoken over}
Now I lay me down to sleep..
I pray the Lord.. my soul to keep..
And if I die before I wake..
I pray the Lord.. my soul to take..

It was plain and obvious to tell that Master P and No Limit were trying to imitate that sound Cash Money Records was blowing up with at the end of the 20th century in 1999 with the song Ice On My Wrist. Ice On My Wrist is about expensive watches. Quite futuristic and dated at the same time.

It was plain and obvious to tell that Master P was trying to imitate that sound Cash Money Records was blowing up with in 1999 especially with the lyrics. He even used popular term “Bling Bling” in the song. Read these lyrics.

I’m just a young nigga hanging with the thug niggas
Rollin with the drug dealers now they wanna mug niggas
Ghetto Fabulous I mean we ballin
I represent the 3rd Ward, Calliope, New Orleans
If the price is on sale then I’ma buy it
Niggas talkin bout they bigger than No Limit don’t try it
No Limit don’t stunt, or front, we got bank
I put that on the tank, and about 72 minks
In the closet, you want it we got it
Y’all leasin, we buyin, No Limit soldiers raise your Rolex high
My cousin Hot Boy just got out the pen
And check his wrist I mean he sitting on I-10
Bling Bling with a 2000 big body
Hit the club and the girls get rowdy rowdy
Humvees on stretch, Ferrari’s and ‘Vette’s
And a Rolls in the garage that I ain’t even drove yet

The ice on my wrist shine like a light
I can brighten up your day even at night

Crazy Bout Ya is a Mercedes/Ms. Peaches/Master P trio. The song explains why the two are crazy about each other emotionally. They are crazy for one another.

Master P (Mercedes) talking:

Mercedes Mercedes I’m home boo
Look what I got for you baby
(Look get this up out of my face
I told you I don’t want anything to do with your dirty money)
What?
(I’m telling you, you need to change your life)
Man you trippin on me? and I’m out here trying to have something for us?
(Cause when it all boiles down it’s gonna be me crying)
Man you ain’t gotta worry about that
Oh you think your better than me now?
I’m outta here girl

Mercedes going insane without her man. She can’t help herself. She doesn’t want anybody else because she is so crazy about him. Mercedes do anything to see him.

Mercedes never forgets the first day they met. She was so crazy about him. She beeped him her pager all the days just to hear him say, “Someday we will be together.” He makes Mercedes have these funny feelings. This is because he shows her that real type of love. Mercedes just loves herself a thug.

The feelings her man has for her are hard to explain to her. He will do anything for her. He’d die for her. He is so crazy about her. He tells Mercedes, “Just give me a chance and I promise never to lie to you. I would be the best for you. Complete any task for you. Any wrong doing, I swear, I’d do the time for you. I could feel your pain that’s why it’s easy to cry for you. So please don’t leave me because I can’t breath without you.”

Mercedes took care of the situation when her man got caught by the feds. She was waiting on his phone call every while lying alone in your bed. People tell Mercedes her man is not worth it. But it is so hard to explain.

Mercedes kept everything fresh for him. Mercedes kept everything best for him. She counted all the figures his cash for him. She continued the business for him. It was Mercedes that paid the bail for him and collected all the mail for him. He trusts her with his life. That is why he can’t wait for her to be his wife. No one could ever take his place with all the memories they share. Nothing else can compare. Mercedes is hiding her pride and what she is feeling inside.

Ms. Peaches going insane without her man. She can’t help herself. She doesn’t want anybody else because she is so crazy about him. Mercedes do anything to see him.

D.I.G. killed his verses on Step to Dis. That is an undeniable fact that many No Limit fans can dispute. You could hear the fury and fire that was inside of his verses as a lyricist and rapper.

[D.I.G.]
Here come dem boys out the bricks, a-lil-daddy whassup
You say you bout trigger play, now show me that you a thug
I ain’t wit that mouthin off, I’m out spillin your blood
Mess around if you wanna box, gon’ stay in the mud
No Limit soldiers known for bustin it up
Better tell him it’s real, we be tossin it up
So if you step to these soldiers I think you better show some love
Cause we 99 strong, and we nuttin but thugs
And pistols bein cocked at all times
And when you run up you gon’ fall down
Cause I’ma hit you with the heat and make you calm down
You ain’t ready to go to war with a real soldier
So don’t step to me fool, cause the game is over

[D.I.G.]
Whassup man?
I think you need to back up off me brah
Cause right now, I’m not feelin too good
And I have a attitude problem
You might push that button to strike that nerve
So you need to just go ‘head on and back up

I rate this album 3/5***!

The New No Limit Records Unreleased Album! (Episode 8) Silkk The Shocker – Change The Game

Season 2 Of No Limit Records Unreleased Series, joined by Mixerr Reviews

Review: Ghetto Commission – Wise Guys

The Ghetto Commission – Wise Guys album was average rap album despite having some of the highest production around and big name artists of the 1990s. Even though some people say Ghetto Commission – Wise Guys was one of the rawest No Limit rap albums of 1998. Although the album was too gutter for the mainstream music market and did not sell very well, Master P was trying to bring a new sound to the label.

The album had everything from hardcore gangsta rap to bounce music but mostly dabbled into hardcore gangsta rap with a heavy lyrical touch. Hardcore gangsta rap is one term that can basically describe this whole album.

C-Los was more involved with the production side of this album because Beats By The Pound had been producing songs and albums for other artists on No Limit. So C-Los stepped up to the plate and produced tracks for Ghetto Commission during this time. C-Los also had a business relationship tied up with Master P during this time also. His production work can be heard all over the album.

I rate this album 3/5***.

Review: Magic – Thuggin’

Magic – Thuggin’ was the sophomore album from ex-No Limit star Magic which was much more explicit and gangsta rap oriented than his debut album Sky’s the Limit. This album was new and experimental for him as one can tell. Master P was trying to bring a new sound to the label during this time as he had Magic change up his style and lyrical delivery. This album definitely has that rough edge of Southern style street rap from the 9th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. Lyricism is what rap is currently missing. This was a very underrated No Limit album from 1999.

One thing that is noticeable is that this Magic album did not rely on a tinge of soul as was the case with his album. This album heavily relied on gangsta rap more than soul.

Not too many people but only No Limit fans know this bit of factual information, his second album was released as a joint effort venture on TRU Records and No Limit Records in 1999. You can see the TRU Records emblem logo underneath the THANK YOU’S section. Some of you might remember this and some of you might not that C-Murder also produced the album.

Magic made his magical return and comeback on the song That’s Me. However the overuse of the word “motherfucker” makes song not so magical or triumphant. He goes on to brag about how he is on top of his lyrical game.

Now the electronic instrumentation with those synths and pads makes the song very futuristic sounding and way ahead of time for a song recorded and released in 1999. One thing you will notice when you first play the song is the futuristic sounding electronic instrumentation and production.

Magic is that motherfucking nigga that everyone asking is about. That nigga Mr. Magic. The one they call Mr. Magic.

Magic treats the mic like a blunt. So watch Mr. Magic get high. Spitting lyrical fire until the day he dies. Ya’ll remember him as that shadow that jumped out of the midst. Making hit after hit and got the whole rap game pissed. Magic’s got them wondering where he came from.

Now Magic is the whisper you can hear in every project hall. The conversation you can hear through every crack in the wall. The funny noises you can hear in your house when it’s dark. The biggest upset in years because he is at the top of the charts. He’s got niggas wondering why the fuck they are struggling. That’s a fucked position that Magic put you in. It’s all to be expected that you niggas couldn’t even vision. Magic went from serving fiends to posing in magazines for No Limit Records in front of the whole world so nobody would have any doubt.

These were the most quotable and memorable lyrics Magic was spitting on the song.

I treat the mic like a blunt so watch Mr. Magic get high
Spitting lyrical fire ’til the day I die
Ya’ll remember me as that shadow that jumped out of the midst
Making hit after hit and got the whole rap game pissed
Got ’em wondering where I came from

I’m the whisper you can hear in every project hall
The conversation you can hear through every crack in the wall
The funny noises you can hear in your house when it’s dark
The biggest upset in years cause I’m at the top of the charts
Got niggas wondering why the fuck they struggling
I guess that’s a fucked position that Magic put you in

Just name a designated time and a designated place
Point them niggas out and I promise they be erased

I treat the mic like a blunt so watch Mr. Magic get high
Spitting lyrical fire ’til the day I die

Ya’ll remember me as that shadow that jumped out of the midst
Making hit after hit and got the whole rap game pissed

I’ll be flippin MC’s until the day that I’m deceased
And got every record label waiting on my contract to be released

Give you a run for your money and bitch I’ll take your shit
I’ll run your pussy ass home like a bitch

I spin and been like a motherfucking tornado
Cut your from nose to navel, now that shit gonna potato

Here are some of the one liners he was rapping.

You can’t stop what supposed to be
You underestimate my consistency
Give you a run for your money and bitch I’ll take your shit
Just name a designated time and a designated place
I’ll rape Barney and kill Officer Friendly
I’ll run your pussy ass home like a bitch
I spin and been like a motherfucking tornado
My dope is high coat, smoking po-po till I die
Cut your from nose to navel, now that shit gonna potato

Good Lookin Out displayed the lyrical ability of both Magic and D.I.G. together on one song. D.I.G. took most of the spotlight though. D.I.G. stay committed with his lyrical ability and rapping style. He is a TRU nigga.

The song showed how Magic improved with not only his lyrics but his storytelling ability. Magic told the story of him and a female friend who was practically his neighbor went together on a caper. However the caper went awry and had backed fired on him with unintended consequences as this all started as a misunderstanding.

It’s a shame this all started as a misunderstanding. There is no turning around because his money is demanded. Magic and a female friend who was practically his neighbor went together on a caper. 3 people died during their caper and Magic ain’t got a fuckin’ quarter. He did all the shooting. He’ll return the favor when the job is done.

9th Ward was a song about his neighborhood known as 9th Ward which is located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Magic is from the 9th Ward. He has been there since the day he was born. I bet you won’t follow him across that canal where his niggas dwell. Every nigga down there remembers Magic. Nothin’ really changed but his gold teeth. He is still that same nigga from Flood Street. Flood Street is a well known street in New Orleans that was once known for drugs, crime, and poverty.

Only difference now is that he don’t sell dope no mo’ because he is performing in shows. Shakin’ off hoes and smoking on optimos. No matter millions or which ever the situation might come. He is ’bout them motherfucking thangs.

Magic shows us that he has not lost touch with his 9th Ward roots and has not forgotten where he came from with these lyrics.

You know you could take the nigga out the nine
But you can’t take the nine out of nigga
Pulling capers is my nature
I’m addicted to making paper
Got my own way of living
Bitch I’m from the C-T-C
Where niggas roam around looking for beef
Killing for free
I take this ward shit to heart
It’s tated on my arm
So me and my niggas never part
I keep you niggas in my mind
For every clucker that I serve
For every nigga that I shot
For every tourist that I robbed
To every god damn rock
For every cop that done chased me
To the bitches that hate me
What have you done for me lately
For every neighbor that was peeking at four o’clock in da morn
It never helped to lock me up
You could’ve left me alone
We learned to improvise on my block
Never had a ball
We played football wit’ a concrete rock
Now picture that
I could never forget my mission
I’m a turn the nine into something bigger that yo’ vision
Before I’m done the world’ll scream

CTC stands for Cross That Canal and is reference to the Lower and Upper parts of the Ninth being separated by a bridge called Judge Seeber (now known as the Claiborne Bridge) in one area and The St. Claude Bridge.

I rate this album 4/5****.

Review: Various Artists – The No Limit All Stars: Who U Wit?

The No Limit All Stars: Who U Wit? compilation album was a rap compilation that had a more commercial sound than the other albums on the No Limit Records label in 1998. The album was advertised heavily during No Limit’s commercial peak in 1998. Master P was very skilled at piecing together an album that featured all of its artists instead of just overloading the album with its biggest names giving them national exposure. The entire album had songs which revolved around the sport of basketball. That makes sense given that Master P was once a basketball player.

The song B-Ball revolves around the sport of basketball. The song heavily relies on the sample of Full Force – Basketball hence the sports related theme. The song used to promote Master P’s brand of Converse footwear back in 1999 as Converse B-Ball. Converse and Foot Locker endorsed the song.

They’re playing basketball. We love that basketball. Who you wit? Who you wit? That’s right. No Limit. If you still love this game called basketball, make some noise!

Some ball players like the microphone. Some ball players like the court. Charles Oakley and Charles Barkley like to break bones. Ron Mercer likes to slam dunk straight to the hoop. Derek Anderson loves the alley oop. Allen Iverson likes the pick and roll. And Scottie Pippen’s rolling with the dream. Jalen Rose rolling with Reggie Miller. Kevin Garnett jumps out this world. Some say Sam Cassell look like Earl The Pearl. Shaquille O’Neal got the money and the power.

Fiend explains how he is cold with his basketball game as a basketball player on his song called Cold Wit It. That is why you can hear a basketball bouncing throughout song.

Fiend is cold wit it. Know what I’m sayin’? If you don’t know by now, now you know. He just can’t be faded when he performs his jumpshots or his fadeaway. Other basketball players get jealous of his jumpshots. Many crashed and burned because his basketball game is cold as Alaska. Once he steps onto the court, he can’t be outdone. There is dangers from all angles as he roams the rectangle. Leave your feelings at home because this could get painful.

Fiend the number one draft pick. That’s no shit. He makes basketball players cough up their last chips. His feet came with springs like a mattress. Fiend is frightening faster than the speed of lightning. He’s a starter like Maurice Carter. Here to serve ya. Naturally made for the game like D.A. and Brian Mercer. Exciting like the fights of the 1993 Mike Tyson.

You Ain’t a Baller is a Magic & Master P duo about basketball. The entire song revolves around the sport of basketball of course. Magic & Master P can tell by your game that you ain’t a baller

Master P asks you (and us) these questions. Can you palm the ball like this? But can you shoot the ball all day? But can you dunk the ball like this Basketball. That’s good enough. Where the ballers at? Let’s get ready to rumble!

Magic just done shot a three-pointer. He slam dunked on your team. You did a lot better on the corner. Because he can tell by your game that you ain’t a baller.

Well it’s the first of the month and Magic just got paid. So he is trying to go home and catch a basketball game on cable television. Something about the NBA keeps him watching basketball game on cable television. Magic gets hypnotize every time he watches a basketball game all night.
All that slam dunking got you feeling like you were born to lose. It’s going down. Somebody going to be high tonight. Somebody getting slammed on. So stop complaining. Play the game like a man. Dennis Rodman might fight tonight.

Are you mad cause you got juke juked? Somebody left you stuck in suspense, broke your confidence, and got you looking for the bench while the world is watching you. Magic had a bad game when he got dunked on about 4 times. Better luck tomorrow. But to beat this squad, you gots to be a baller.

Who remembers Mo Cheeks, David Johnson Elvin Hayes, and Bill Walton? Ball handling from the Earl the Pearl and the three-point shots from Larry Bird. Check out passes passed from Pistol Pete and the way Dr. J made everything look so sweet. What about the tower called Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem? Got us in the game again. Bill Russell won 11 NBA championships. Walt Frazier could be better known as a pimp. Elgin Baylor made shooting three-pointers look easy. Magic Johnson in Magic’s opinion was no better leading. Michael Jordan is amazing. How does he jump so far?

No matches are perfect. So Magic thinks Michael Jordan might be from the planet Mars. And to you upcoming stars, you know who you are. Feel blessed and thank the Lord that you’s a baller.

Two For One – Pass The Ball was used as track 14 for the compilation No Limit Soldiers Who U Wit? compilation. Pass The Ball was produced by Beats By The Pound. The song uses some heavy rumbling bass. This is a sports rap song about the sport of basketball.

I rate this album 5/5*****!

Review: Soulja Slim – The Streets Made Me

Soulja Slim – The Streets Made Me was one of No Limit’s most overlooked albums of 2001. The reason being is that Soulja Slim – The Streets Made Me was originally supposed to be distributed by Priority Records. However No Limit’s distribution contract with Priority Records had expired and Master P used Houston based Southwest Wholesale Distribution to release the album with which resulted in limited promotion and exposure. That is also why the album was released in 2001 on the short-lived “No Limit South” sublabel.

This overlooked second album of his should have been a platinum success nearly on the level of his debut album was. His second album had that raw hardcore lyrical sound. This was his second hardest album to date. Soulja Slim literally took gangsta rap of New Orleans to a whole another level with his second album.

Can’t Touch Us was originally Afficial’s song which ended up being used on Soulja Slim’s 2001 album Streets Made Me. The song served as the good ender on Soulja Slim’s 2001 album. Afficial shows off their hardcore versatile lyrics. Afficial definitely brings out the East Coast flavor into the song. S-Flames was the hardest with the bars and Yukon was lit with the punchlines. They all brought different styles to their songs. Everyone knows Afficial are some straight head bustas. Ya heard me? No Limit is the family. The army is strong.

Afficial wears Jordans and ride on 23’s (23 inch rims) on the truck while screened up (having tinted windows). Their chrome wheels on their truck feel like you are riding on ski’s. That is what the lyrics, “Chrome wheels it feel like you ridin’ on ski’s” mean.

Smoking that sticky green. Afficial is spazzed out with a spaced out look. That is why members of Afficial have that spazzed out look. You can catch them rolling in their Jaguar. Play hard, pop fly, and get bitches to jump rope is their motto. Game over is the law and their motto also. These little niggas ain’t ballin’ right. Afficial gotta call the plays out. Afficial flips shit up and turn dogs back to puppies. They sure is ugly.

S-Flames was the hardest with the bars. Read these lyrics of his.

[Afficial (S-Flames)]
The bigger the barrel is it’s harder to swallow
I gotta put you in the creek where the water is shallow
Afficial, game over is the law & the motto
Put it out for the bitches & the niggas to follow

Soulja Slim showcases how he is (was) still the lyrical veteran soulja with his lyrics on the song called Make it Happen. Soulja Slim took it back to this streets on this one joint with those hardcore versatile lyrics of his. The production is strong and heavy due to the number of layers used.

These lyrics showcase how he is (was) still the lyrical veteran soulja with his lyrics.

Cut throat ’em on Magnolia leave body parts on Willow
Dats how we do it, 6 court souljas off top
Keep ’em cocked wit out havin’ second thoughts to pop
Uptown dats where I was born & raised
Chastised by veterans in they army brigades
When I grew up I wanted to just like them
Look at me now retired veteran, Soulja Slim
A lot of souljas made it and a lot of ’em didn’t
It ain’t easy bein’ a soulja takes a lot of wig splittin’

Nigga just shot my dawg Double Crosser
Beef is on, heat is on, tweekin’ for leakin’ domes
Make it known when I come home clear tha whole corner
Somebody gon’ die when my & my army ride
You niggas jive, who gonna thank me & my dawg won’t kill ya
Had ya down dad should of let my dawg steel ya
Bustarized, realized, we crucifized, homicide
Lookin’ for me wit the Chinese eyes
Gold grill from tha back to tha front, mask on
Done a walk by and got my blast on

I rate this album 4/5****!
