Review: Nicole Wray – Young Talented & Beautiful

Young, Talented & Beautiful is one of the many unreleased albums Nicole Wray recorded during the 2000s. She showed off her mature side on this album with several of her songs detailing the experiences and tribulations she faced throughout her life. There’s definitely a higher level of maturity in her music. You can tell she was very much hands-on with the songwriting. You will definitely be pleased with this album. Nicole Wray never fails to disappoint with her music.

Her album uses a mixture of contemporary pop, R&B/soul, and hip hop/rap. Her album is all love. Love, relationships, trust, and all the things she has been through that have made her a stronger woman. Every moment of the struggle helped Nicole become a better person. She simply equates her strength and success to balance. Shortly after parting ways with previous record labels she was signed to, Nicole honed in on her songwriting, by immersing herself into music legends of the past and the reserved awareness of the tuneful present in order to make her groundbreaking mark in the future.

With her new album Young, Talented and Beautiful, Nicole educates listeners about love, life, relationships and struggle, all while staying true to her Soul music roots as she is transformed into the icon she is destined to become. In this album, she demonstrates her immense growth as an artist and a young woman. Only this time it’s not R&B, it’s a movement ya’ll!

The album was created, produced, arranged, and recorded under the direction of industry veteran executive Demmette Guidry and Aftermath super producer Focus. Producer 7 Aurelius produced some of the songs as well.

The album was supposed to be released in 2008 on Family Over Everything (F.O.E./ A.FAM). However that did not happen because Nicole retitled her 2008 album to “Changes” and later “Miss America”. As a result, the album was shelved and the songs were reused on other future albums such as Boss Bitch, Boss Chick, and Dream Factory Sessions. The real reason this album was shelved and abandoned was because she was asked by returning collaborator Damon Dash to assist him with vocal features on the Black Keys project “BlakRoc” in 2010.

According to one website called dopdx.com, here is how her 2008 album was described as.

[She resembles your refined Ella Fitzgerald “a tisket a tasket”, meets the modern raucous Lady Day of the streets. Nicole Wray personifies the cool girl next door – one moment she’s kickin’ it with the fellas, the next, she’s blowin’ down the stage in her sassy dress. One minute she’s getting her nails “did” with the girls, the next, she’s playing ball in the park. Nicole Wray epitomizes your down to earth diva with her larger than life, yet approachable persona. Her sultry yet compelling voice speaks to the core of your soul, demanding your attention in a calming, pre-flowing demeanor. Easy to talk to and honest, Nicole could simply be your best friend, or possibly your girlfriend in your fantasy, as she is soothingly soulful and sexy. This young talented singer is destined to become music’s next legend.

Nicole was born in the glitz and glam state of California, predestined to become a star. Shortly after, she moved to the small town of Portsmouth, Virginia (across the bay from Ella’s hometown of Newport News), where the performance bug bit her at an early age, and buzzed her way to her first recording contract as a teenager. Nicole crafted her soulful voice in church where she became one of the star choir members, and even began to model in local fashion shows, hence her unique style of contemporary classic meets urban. It was during this time when Nicole gained camaraderie with Hip Hop/R&B music mogul Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot. Missy, impressed with Nicole’s talents, gained confidence and devotion in Nicole’s artistry. Subsequently, Nicole rose to fame as the first artist to be signed to Missy Elliot’s Goldmind label and made her first professional recordings on Missy’s “Supa Dupa Fly”. Nicole released her first debut album, Make it Hot, selling over 700,000 copies worldwide with sultry ballads such as “Seventeen” and “Curiosity”, to dance floor grooves such as “Make It Hot”, a top ten hit R&B banger produced by Timbaland. At 17, one can say Nicole was doing very well for herself. She had three music videos under her belt and various collaborations on assorted albums.

Shortly after parting ways with Goldmind, Nicole honed in on her songwriting, by immersing herself into music legends of the past and the reserved awareness of the tuneful present, to make her groundbreaking mark in the future. Presently, Nicole is working on her sophomore album entitled Young, Talented and Beautiful on the Family Over Everything (F.O.E./ A.FAM) label where she will create under the direction of industry veteran executive Demmette Guidry (Lauryn Hill, Fugees, Wyclef Jean, Beyonce’, Destiny’s Child, NAS, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupree, Maxwell) and Aftermath super producer Focus (Beyonce’, Destiny’s Child, Pink, Usher, Dr. Dre, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Faith Evans, Nsync) as she is transformed into the icon she is destined to become. With her new album Young, Talented and Beautiful, Nicole educates listeners about love, life, relationships and struggle, all while staying true to her Soul music roots. In this album, she demonstrates her immense growth as an artist and a young woman. Only this time it’s not R&B, it’s a movement ya’ll!]

Boomerang Theory is one of those upbeat songs with a mellow vibe and positive feel you will hear in those coffee shop songs and frozen yogurt place songs. Boomerang Theory is also known as Boomerang Effect to you Nicole Wray fans out there. Boomerang Theory was produced in 2006 by 7 Aurelius for her Lovechild album and her 2011 single I Found You on DDMG.

Boomerang Theory explained how Nicole was getting smarter and wiser as time passes by and through age progression of course. Nicole talks about how she is no ordinary girl as she finds it hard to be like most women. Nicole both sings and raps during the song.

You act like you don’t hear Nicole Wray talkin’. You act like you don’t see Nicole Wray here. Well she’s always been around. Sometimes up and sometimes down. She was forced to speak my mind. Just brought a 9 to protect her life. Nicole Wray is no ordinary girl. Nicole finds it hard to be like most women and most sisters. She walks past the snakes and fakers as she hides her pride behind a smile.

Gangsta, gangsta yes she’ll testify. People said she wouldn’t make it. She passed them by and by. Peep if you will you’ll find her grinding harder. Take a look through her mind you’ll see she is getting wiser. Take a look at the world and see it’s getting colder. Thank God for building Nicole Wray stronger.

Life’s went somewhere. Her grind is steady. Nicole has got my money right. Her mind has been ready. Her flow is deadly. People just don’t get her. Nicole is on top of the charts. On the tip of their tongues and the top of their hearts. They love Nicole and she loves them back. The boomerang effect is a fact.

The song uses catchy sing-songy lyrics such as these which help make the song memorable and last a lifetime in people’s mind.

You act like you don’t hear me talkin’
You act like you don’t see me here
Well I’ve always been around
Sometimes up and sometimes down
Was forced to speak my mind
Just brought a 9 to protect my life
I’m no ordinary girl

Gangsta, gangsta yes I’ll testify
Said I wouldn’t make it, I passed them by and by
Peep if you will you’ll find me grinding harder
Take a look through my mind
You’ll see I’m getting wiser
Take a look at the world and see it’s getting colder
Thank God for building me stronger

Life’s went somewhere
My grind is steady
Got my money right, my mind been ready
Flow is deadly, they just don’t get me
Please stay with me, follow my life
Been around the world twice came back
To the spot that I like
I’m on top, on top of the charts
On the tip of they tongues, the top of they hearts
They love me and I love them back
The boomerang effect is a fact

I’m in my zone, my soldiers like to stand by
Never alone, about to make the drums cry

This Kiss is a futuristic love song that served as the opener for the album. This Kiss is a futuristic love song produced by 7 Aurelius and written by Nicole Wray. Beats were created by 7 Aurelius. Of course This Kiss is a love song. This Kiss explained how Nicole was looking for and longing for a kiss from her man.

At the beginning of the song, we are greeted with a female styled robotic computer voice which tells us, “Hello, you have selected the pleasure experience where your wildest fantasies become real. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.”

Nicole has been looking for this touch and been looking for this kiss all her love. She is feeling a special way. She is feeling like the man she sees can be the one for her. The perfect one for her. he knows that love takes time. And time I’m sure we’ll see. Was it meant to be? I know it’s just begun.

He’s got her in his arms as his body moves in close. Nicole wants him more and more. His kiss is one of a kind. His kiss is one of the things that blew her mind. The greatest part of all is that she does not care if she falls.

Masquerade is a remix version of Sarah from Nicole Wray’s Independence Day mixtape from 2007 on FOE from Atlanta, Georgia. Masquerade is an updated version of Sarah as Masquerade revisits Sarah from Nicole Wray’s Independence Day with rearrangements in sound and change in production by none other than 7 Aurelius. The production is ill as 7 Aurelius is an ill producer. Nicole Wray based this song off her own life experiences after her faltering career with Missy Elliott on Goldmind Inc. from 1996 to 2001. Her experiences in this song are based off her post Missy Elliott years before signing to Roc-A-Fella. This is one of the best songs off the album.

Hear the synopsis of the song. This girl is making money in the nightlife while living the fast life. She is living both a fast life and nightlife on a double-edged sword by living on the edge. She don’t know any better in what to believe in. She is loving all the wrong people for the wrong reasons. The girl in the song is a reflection of Nicole Wray.

Nicole Wray knew this girl from around the way back in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a girl from around the way who Nicole Wray used to kick it with everyday. Apparently she lived on the corner. Every night she is awakened by gunshots. Nicole Wray now makes hints indicating this girl was being abused. Her mother was nowhere to be found in her life. She was deep in the streets on her own. Well this girl is making money in the nightlife while living the fast life. She is living both a fast life and nightlife on a double-edged sword by living on the edge.

So Nicole and this girl started hanging out in the nightlight. Makin’ money but most of it don’t feel right. If her mother knew about the danger Nicole was involved in, it would kill her. So Nicole kept her tears buried in her pillow all bеcause a little girl was jaded. All she knows is what she believes, Searching hard to find the answers while she’s out there in the streets. She don’t know any better in what to believe in. She is loving all the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Now the masquerade is over. This girl Nicole Wray is talking and singing about found what she believed in.

Nicole looked up and saw her. But she looked in the mirror to see that this wasn’t a dream. Only reality. Nicole was surprised to see the woman in the mirror was her. This girl was a reflection of Nicole Wray. Now the masquerade is over. All the girls they came to save her. She found out what she believed in. It was her who she believed in. Now the masquerade is over.

Dear Father was a song Nicole wrote about her father Kenneth Ear Wray. She was wondering where he was and about all the wonderful memories they shared. Nicole’s father was absent from her life because him and her mother divorced during Nicole’s childhood. The song is a sad heart-pulling song that will leave you in tears. This how this song is so emotional.

Nicole has been sitting right here waiting on the day for her father to call. She was thinking of his voice and his song. The apple don’t fall too far from the tree. But it seems so clear. All she has is memories. Nicole wants her father back. It’s clear and evident she needs her father back. Why did he have to go? She misses her father so much. Nicole is not mad as she understands. She guesses it’s what God planned.

Her father used to sing to her. Oh how he made her smile. But when he went away, her blue skies all turnеd to clouds. But becausе of him, her little girl is a woman now. Her father showed Nicole how. He taught her well. He made her see. Nicole wonders why her father had to leave her and be absent from her life.

On an Instagram post from Easy Mo Bee, Easy Mo Bee made the claim that 7 Aurelius tried to steal his production credits for Dear Father.

“7 Aurelius tried to steal my credit… If you bring a track to the table and somebody adds keyboards to it, what is that? Co-production. If I pull my track out from underneath you have nothing but the additives. Don’t play me.”

Here is how djbooth.net described and their commentary on the song,

[R&B singer Nicole Wray’s new single Dear Father is the lead from her highly anticipated new album, Young, Talented and Beautiful. Her last officially released album Make It Hot was critically acclaimed and sold over 5 million records, in circa 1998. Due to label issues she has had two albums that have gone unreleased and only add to the anticipation of her impending release. On Dear Father her vocal chops are on display from the very beginning and make the song a very easy listen. The beat, produced by Seven, makes for a smooth, mellow R&B that will allow you to kick back and chill.]

The Grudge is a bittersweet love song about how love came into Nicole’s heart and took out all the bad parts which made the grudge she held disappear. She is letting the grudge go because the weight of this grudge was holding her down heavily.

Love made its way to Nicole’s heart and took out all the bad parts. The pressure turned her around. How precious life can be. Nobody can hold her down due to this new found victory. She is letting the grudge go because the weight of this grudge was holding her down heavily. Love lifted the grudge.

She used to hold all thе bad memories inside of her. They used to burn her like 300ºF degrees. What was lost wanted to be found. How mean people can be. And how they made Nicole get off her game. She sat around and let them bring her down. Nicole didn’t wanna end up living life so cold. So she begin to let go. Love is now part of her and gave her brand new outlook on life.

Drumz is a love song with very loud ultra-heavy thick beats from 7 Aurelius over a tempo of 122 BPM which is the most BPM on this album.. 7 Aurelius produced and recorded Drumz even though the production sounds a bit distorted. Not surprising since this song uses some thick distortion in various places throughout the song. It’s another great song you will love! You’ll get used to the distortion after a little while as the song progresses.

On Drumz, Nicole sang about how she used to fight back the temptations of love. But when she heard the drums, she fell in love.

Nicole used to hold back her love. She used to run with the boys. She didn’t have love on her mind. No one was getting her time. Nicole used to fight love with steel because she didn’t want to end up in tears. But something told her inside to just let love come on by. Nicole thinks this is love again.

She used to wander around and party all night lost in the crowd as she thought that she was feeling free. Now she knows that this ain’t her. She really wanted someone on her side. Someone who’s down for the ride. Someone who’ll let me be her. Could this be love again? Nicole thinks this is love again. When Nicole heard the drums, she fell in love.

There is a bit pop infused in this song. These lyrics are quite poppish, “See love is candy, love is bubblegum/Chocolate kisses, love is yummy yum/I’m feeling sexy” This is the pop portion of this song.

Lost is about Nicole being lost without her man being in her life. This is another futuristic sounding love song produced by 7 Aurelius.

Nicole can’t hold back as she can’t control her emotions. Her man is in her heart and in her mind. His voice sticks to her like honey. He brings out her inner ebony. Nicole never felt this way before. She has dreams of him moving slowly in the dark. She can’t stop thinking about the love they make. Nicole can’t stop thinking that her hеart won’t break. She don’t wanna get lost.

See this thing just ain’t fair. Nicole goes around the whole world, comes back, and he’s still there (here). Nicole wants to piece his heart before she loses her mind. Yet she falls right back into this feeling that she can’t control. She never felt this way before.

Misery is the closer of the album. Misery loves company on the song Miserable People. The mellow and vibe are smooth, timid, and slow. Miserable People is from her 2010 albums Boss Bitch and Boss Chick. The beautiful mellow piano solo at the beginning of Miserable People helps give off a mellow vibe that is not too ecstatic. Miserable People has a loud and powerful essence in the sound.

Nicole Wray laces the track with her soulful singing about how misery loves company. Nicole Wray states there is so many things to love about life. In reality, there is so many things to love about living life. Life has its ups and downs. So why hate? Nicole Wray does not want miserable people in her life. She won’t let it get the best of her. By the grace of God she is still around.

Lyrics to the chorus tell all.

[Chorus]
Misery loves company, why
Misery loves company, why
I don’t need in my life
Miserable people loves company

Who Are You served as Nicole’s reintroduction to music and the opener for Boss Bitch. This song served as her high quality, high powered comeback as she sings away. Not only does she sing, she talks and raps. She went the futuristic route on this song by using elements of electronic and R&B. Who Are You is one of those fast uptempo paced songs to ride your bicycle to and exercise. It is 2 minutes and 45 seconds long which makes it kind of short.

This song Who Are You was recorded and produced by Focus in 2010. Focus does a great job of producing beats as always. So you know this song is going to be lit! That’s no doubt.

Nicole Wray reintroduces herself to the R&B game for 2010. She was living in the ATL at the time when she recorded this song and even refers to herself as an ATLien! (Note the OutKast reference.) Who Are You is also to all those haters out there that have been hating on Nicole Wray. The song is clearly aimed at those haters specifically.

Nicole lets haters know that she knows who she is as a person as she shows self-awareness with these lyrics “I’m me/Who are you?/You’re a hater” She tells haters in those lyrics, “Who are you to judge me? To test me? You’re a hater.” She also repeats these lyrics during the refrain and chorus, “I’m me/Who are you?” Those words are repeated several times throughout the song.

These lyrics of hers were definitely ahead of our time and very futuristic. “ I’M SO SPACED OUT I’M ABOUT TO DISAPPEAR!” Now who else has these lyrics in any of their songs? Nicole Wray was way ahead of the game in 2010.

Ms. America is a song dedicated to the ladies when their man made them feel special like Ms. America. This song was recorded in 2007 during the Miss America era when her Miss America album was being recorded. Ms. America is a song that speaks for itself.

Nicole asks ladies out there, “Has he ever made you feel like Miss America? Put you upon a pedestal and give you what you want?” She asks ladies to tell her, “Tell me how that makes you feel.” during the song. “Has he ever made you feel like Miss America? Put you upon a pedestal and give you what you want?” are the lyrics to the chorus for this song as well.

If he makes you feel like Ms. America, hands in the air. Do you wanna be in love this way? Just hold on and it’ll come someday.

Here’s an open door that Nicole just walked through. Wildflowers and stars in the sky like she is on a pedestal. Ruby’s on her neck from an ancient queen. The love her man has for her has never been seen before and is unprecedented. That is what these lyrics mean. “The love he has for me has never been seen” The love he has for Nicole has never been seen. This love right here can’t compare to any other kind of love. There is nothing like him.

Nicole is in paradise with proper attire. Her dress flew in from Rome just to dance one night. It’s him that she adores because he makes her feel like she’s in parade and it’s all about her.

The love Nicole’s man has for her is unprecedented and has never been seen before. The love he has for Nicole has never been seen. This love right here can’t compare to any other kind of love. There is nothing like him. That is what these lyrics mean. “The love he has for me has never been seen”

These lyrics scream Miss America.

Has he ever madе you feel Ms. America?
Put you on a pedestal and givе you what you want
Just to send your pay, 50-foot drop on an open sea
Make princess cut on my jewelry

I’m in paradise with proper attire
My dress flew in from Rome, just to dance one night
It’s him that I adore, cause he makes me feel
Like I’m in parade and it’s all about me

Here’s an open door that I just walked through
Wildflowers, stars in the sky like I’m on a pedestal
Ruby’s on my neck from an ancient queen
The love he has for me has never been seen

Wash Away is one of those depressing songs to wash away your pain to. There is a zither/koto playing in the background which gives this song a sad vibe. This song was recorded in 2010. Wash Away was produced by Mikey Jay and engineered by Seneca Malcom.

Nicole tells us why she wants to wash away all her pain inside. It feels like Russian Roulette to the dome. She wants to wash away all the pain and doubt inside. Clearly she wants to do just that. She wants to be with a man and never be alone again. Nicole spends the entirety of the song wondering if a man or anyone else can hear her cry for the attention she has been losing for and very well deserves. She wants to find a man who is just like her.

Pandora’s Box is a fun mystery song which sounds very much similar to a dreamy love song. This mood is mysterious and playful. 4 words to describe this song are dreamy, fun, mysterious, and playful. This song was recorded in 2008 when her album Changes was being recorded.

Focus from Aftermath Entertainment produced this song. He does a great job on this song with the beats of as always. So you know this song is going to be lit! Now if you listen closely, you can hear the drums and beats samples to Computer Love by Zapp. Pandora’s Box samples Zapp – Computer Love and Janet Jackson – Anytime, Anyplace.

Back Up Against The Wall had that futuristic poppy Roc-A-Fella sound to it. Rap meets R&B/soul here. The song is about sex. Back Up Against The Wall was recorded in 2002 and produced by Dame Dash. Back Up Against The Wall features UK hip hop/rap group SAS. SAS was signed to Rocafella as well when Nicole Wray was there. SAS was also known as Eurogang and were also signed to Cam’ron’s Diplomats Records in the mid 00s.

Back Up Against The Wall was a song that was supposed to be on the 2005 Lovechild album when Nicole Wray was signed to Rocafella Records and DDMG. As you all know that didn’t happen due to the Jay-Z and Dame Dash feud between 2004 and 2006. Which sucked of course. However this song would be used on the 2005 album SAS – Who Dares Wins. Honestly Back Up Against The Wall needed to have a music video along with the song. Who knows what Jay-Z and Dame Dash were thinking.

Money is a song that speaks for itself. This song is for the strippers out there in them strip clubs downtown or wherever you at. For all them sexy pole dancers. That sums up this song here. The song was recorded in 2009.

Nicole teaches us money is something we all need and is a necessity. That is because everything in the world costs money. That is factual. In this world we work hard for the money. It’s a must that we survive. We strive to survive in life. Gotta get that green.

Now the beginning of this song uses an opera sample of a person singing in a loud high-pitched baritone form. This opera sample is a sample of an opera composition piece from either the 18th century, 19th century, or 20th century. This opera sample lasts for 8 seconds in the song until the 0:08 mark when the loud thunderous beats kick in.

Dice Roll is a sad mid tempo song about real life and reality. Everyday is just another hustle. Dice Roll was on the 2006 Independence Day mixtape. Now this version is a bit shorter than the original version on the Independence Day mixtape.

This song is the truth especially with lyrics such as these lyrics. Nicole has always kept things 100% truthful in her songs. Hard times can put you in a bind. That is why you gotta get your mind right. This shit ain’t for show. No, it’s not our fault ’cause it’s in us.

Hard time put you in a bind
Get your mind right
Gotta survive in this jungle
You’re a winner
Let’s not forget we are both sinners
No, it’s not our fault ’cause it’s in us
Throwing up our hand ’cause it feels good
Yes, we live good

Doing what I gotta do is all that I know
I’m out here all day even if it’s real slow
This shit ain’t for show, if you ain’t know
America might know, I’m from the ghetto

My Friend was a song recorded in 2006 and was produced by Focus. It is a great song that is considered to be fantastic by Nicole Wray fans! The song is about sharing love and friendship as evidenced in these lyrics, “The love that we share is far much better” and “A friend to the end”.

Nicole doesn’t have to make him hers because the love that they share is far more better than fussing and wasting time. She don’t wanna mess it up. They don’t need that pressure because they’re so much better. But if they did hook up they would have to start all over again. He is her friend to the end. If that changes, she’ll die because he’ll never be her friend again.

He doesn’t understand the things Nicole is telling him. He looked in her eyes and she felt so safe inside. Look at the years they shared as friends. How could he ever want this to end?

She respects their friendship. She respects everything about him. From the beginning to the end, he is her boy. Through the thick and thin, he is her boy. It’s already good with her.

He Must Know is a slow jam and a club song. It’s a perfect song to play on a boat cruise, night club, ballroom dance, café, or in a restaurant. This song is definitely a perfect song to play in a restaurant during the day or at night! The song will remind you of a soft Beatles Song. This song was recorded in 2007.

In this song, Nicole is head over heads over a man that she is clearly in love with. She wants him to know that she is in love with him. She makes this very clear throughout the duration of this song. The fact that she does not disguise the fact that she has been sleeping with him is not hidden either nor does she try to hide that from her listener(s). Nicole is not too blunt as she gets straight to the point about how much she is in love with this man.

Nicole gets straight to the point at the very beginning of this song with her lyrics. “He must know it’s all about him/From his head down to the way he lace his Tims/Oh he makes want to let it go give in/He’s what I want/I want him to know I’m head over heals” These are the lyrics to the chorus too.

He is about the illest thing Nicole has seen. She cannot lie about the way he hypnotizes her eyes. There is no way she will let this man get away from her. She will love him to the point where he will want to stay with her. She watches him when he grab his keys down to when he falls fast asleep. Also she watches the way he lace his Timberland boots. He makes her want to let go and give in.

Here Nicole is head over heads over a man that she is clearly in love with. She wants him to know that she is in love with him. She makes this very clear throughout the duration of this song. Now she is not too blunt either. Of course some people may say that Nicole is in over her head but that does not matter to her. She cannot lie as she is in love with him.

These lyrics explore how lovestruck she gets whenever he hangs with her.

How can this feel so good?
I wish I would
Let some girl come and stand all in my way
I see him coming my heart starts to pound
And when he touch me I just make the sound
I watch you when you grab your keys
Down to when you fall fast asleep
I call your name to hear you speak
I can’t believe you move with me
He must know it’s all about him
From his head down to the way he lace his Tims
Oh he makes want to let it go give in
He’s what I want
I want him to know I’m head over heals

These lyrics here are also repeated several times throughout this song. “I watch you when you grab your keys/Down to when you fall fast asleep/I call your name to hear you speak?/I can’t believe you move with me”

Ohhh He must know it’s all about him
From his head down to the way he lace his Timb’s
Ohhh he makes me wanna let it go, give in
He’s what I want and more, I’m head over heels

He’s ’bout the illest thing I’ve seen I mean…
The way he hypnotized my eyes I cannot lie
Oh no way will I let him get away
I’m gonna love him, hope he’ll wanna stay
I watch you when you grab your keys
Down to when you fall fast asleep
I call your name to hear you speak
I can’t believe you’re moving me

Ohhh he must know it’s all about him
From his head down to the way he lace his Timb’s
Ohhh he makes me wanna let it go, give in
He’s what I want and more, I’m head over heels

How can this feel so good I wish I would
Let some girl come and stand all in my way
I see him come and my heart starts to pound
And when he touch me I just make the sound
I watch you when you grab your keys
Down to when you fall fast asleep
I call your name to hear you speak
I can’t believe you’re moving me

Ohhh he must know it’s all about him
From his head down to the way he lace his Timb’s
Ohhh he makes me wanna let it go, give in
He’s what I want and more, I’m head over heels

Nicole recorded a buzz single titled “I’ll Take Your Man” in late 2006 for her self-titled album with production by Amerie’s producer Rich Harrison. This song would later be used on her 2008 album. Nicole sings about how she will take another ladies man and take him on the road. She is that bitch. The song uses a bit of rock and soul with a minuscule dash of pop. The song showcased her more explicit side as she used explicit lyrics at the very beginning.

It ain’t even really nothin’ to her. Nicole will take another ladies man and take him on the road with the band. She will have him eating out the palm of her hand. Ladies, Nicole will take you man places that you can’t understand.

Off top, he’s Nicole’s when she wants him. She’s hot, huffin and puffin. But it really ain’t nothin’ to her. Woo ma. What’s all the attitude for? Please don’t make her snatch that cute boy. She might just let him get it right now, ouch. Nicole will take you man places that you can’t understand.

Sunshine is one of those bright cheerful positive soul songs with loud vibrant production and instrumentation. The song was about Nicole wanting the right man to come into her life and rescue her from all this pain and misery. She was looking for a man to love.

Nicole remembers when her days were kinda lonely. And she never thought that she would ever see the day for someone to come and rescue her from all this pain and misery. Now it’s all so very clear to her now. She has got the wind beneath her feet. So now she is flying. And she ain’t afraid to tell the world about it. Her heart is open. With all that love it’s more than friends. She knows she can depend on the right man to come into her life and rescue her from all this pain and misery. She knows she can depend on that man. Nicole sees the sunshine. She knew it would be alright.

She believes in him. He is all Nicole ever wanted. He is everything she could ever dream of. He shines so bright that he blinded her. Nicole always wanted to be free. Let’s celebrate this love thing forever. Without a doubt they’re gonna stay together. She is on a high and won’t come down. As long as he stays around. Just say the world and she’ll be down. This kind of love makes her wanna go outside and tell the world about it. She can’t live without it. There is no other love suited for her.

These lyrics are filled with positivity and brightness.

[Verse 1]
I remember when my days were kinda lonely
And I never thought that I would ever see the day
For someone to come and rescue me
From all this pain and misery
Now it’s all so very clear to me, now
Got the wind beneath my feet so now I’m flying
And I ain’t afraid to tell the world about it
My heart is open, come right in
With all that love it’s more than friends
I know I can depend on you, yeah

[Chorus]
I see the sunshine
I knew it would be alright
However you want mе, you need me, you got me
Just don’t take your lovе away

[Verse 2]
I believe in you, you’re all I ever wanted
You’re everything that I could ever dream of
You shine so bright you blinded me
You took my hand now I can see
Always wanted to be free, yeah
Let’s celebrate this love thing forever
Without a doubt we’re gonna stay together
I’m on a high I won’t come down
As long as you stay around
Just say the world and I’ll be down, yeah

[Bridge]
Love, this kind of love
Makes me wanna go outside and tell the world about it
I can’t live without it
No other love

[Chorus]
I see the sunshine
I knew it would be alright
However you want me, you need me, you got me
Just don’t take your love away

[Chorus]
I see the sunshine
I knew it would be alright
However you want me, you need me, you got me
Just don’t take your love away

[Chorus]
I see the sunshine
I knew it would be alright
However you want me, you need me, you got me
Just don’t take your love away

Gonna Love You sounds like a cover of a Babyface song which is a slow love ballad. It has the same melody as TLC’s I Miss You So Much. This sound like a 90s song more than a 2000s song. You can easily tell that Babyface produced this particular composition right here. This song was used on her 2008 album.

Elektra and Missy were scared of Gonna Love You because they feared Nicole was going to become more popular than Missy herself. Elektra and Missy were scared of the song Gonna Love You because they knew this song was going to be a hit when Suga Mike and Big Baby recorded and produced this song with Nicole. This song definitely would have been a hit! And a lovely single. Elektra and Missy wanted to keep her style of singing pigeonholed to hip hop/rap while Nicole wanted to sing pop and soul songs.

Just read the way these lyrics were structured. You know this love song was going to be destined to be a hit. Especially with her singing the song. The lyrics and song writing have Babyface written all over it.

[Verse 1]
It’s just the little things you do for me
And I’m glad to know that your heart is with me
Ain’t no cloud in the sky could make me feel this way
We’ll cherish the years until our hairs turn gray

[Pre-Chorus]
I’ll give you more than my all, anything at all
I’ll be there when you fall, just call
I wanna give you all of my love and so much more
Cause you’re the one that I adore

[Chorus]
I’m gonna love you so much
I’ll bet you, you know that someone
That loves you so much
Just when you think I’m done
I’m gonna love you some more

[Verse 2]
Every second that you’re not here with me
That’s when my emotions come talking to me
It’s to the point where I breathe in with you
This love inside me is more than you knew

[Pre-Chorus]
I’ll give you more than my all, anything at all
I’ll be there when you fall, just call
I wanna give you all of my love and so much more
Cause you’re the one that I adore

[Chorus]
I’m gonna love you so much
I’ll bet you, you know that someone
That loves you so much
Just when you think I’m done
I’m gonna love you some more

[Bridge]
Don’t think there’s no more love to give
That’s it I’ll come pouring more
And you know that I hold the key to your heart
For sure and I’ll always be yours

[Chorus]
I’m gonna love you so much
I’ll bet you, you know that someone
That loves you so much
Just when you think I’m done
I’m gonna love you some more

[Chorus]
I’m gonna love you so much
I’ll bet you, you know that someone
That loves you so much
Just when you think I’m done
I’m gonna love you some more

Boy You Make Me Say is another love song. This song was probably recorded in 2003. The lyrics to this song are actually funny. “OK I’M NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY/CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF SHE EVER ACTUALLY SAID WHAT HE MADE HER SAY?/GET HANDS UP SO EYES CAN SEE!”

Boss Bitch is a preppy upbeat R&B song that was recorded in 2008. Boss Bitch was a song from her unreleased album Changes and had featured one of the girls from the group BELLA. Nicole lets us know that she is the boss bitch who is in charge and in control of things in this song of hers. This ain’t nothing new to her. She’s been that for so long.

Eye Candy is one of those 2010s rave club songs. The sounds of this song are futuristic as the elements of electronic, pop, rap, and dance are incorporated into this song. One of those hot party clubbin’ songs as some people like to call it and refer to as. All the girls want to be like Nicole Wray. This song is for the ladies out there who feel the same way as she does.

Callin’ deals with how Nicole is tired of her man constantly calling her. She wants to get rid of him and let him go. That is evident with these lyrics “I WANT TO LEAVE YOU ALONE, FOREVER/I WANT TO LET YOU GO” and “OVER AND OVER/I’M TIRED OF FEELING LIKE THIS/SO WHAT’S IT’S GOING TO BE, BABY?/I KNOW WHAT IT IS” Callin’ has either a Curtis Mayfield or an Isaac Hayes sample at the beginning. If you listen closely, the bassline has is sampling The D.O.C. – Let The Bass Go. It needed a music video to go along with it. This song was recorded in 2010.

I Like It was recorded in 2009 to be a buzz single for this album. That obviously worked as there was a music video to go along with this song of hers. I Like It soon enough became the hit single for this album. The song was #1 on the iTunes charts for a few weeks back in 2009. I Like It has a 90s feel, style and sound to it. This whole song is bananas and off the hook! The beats, samples, scratches, synths, vocals, and chords are bananas! I Like It samples 2Pac – I Get Around.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!
