Buffalo-based rapper Ché Noir gives rap music some food for thought with her 5th album Food For Thought in 2023. She gave some game and knowledgeable information to everyone with her new album. A majority of the song titles are food-themed or have some sort of direct references to food altogether. In the case with this album, Ché is talking about mental food for thought. This is that Upstate New York shit. Poetic Thoughts ain’t just a label, you know? The album uses a bit of spoken word to deliver messages to her audiences.
In the Eat to Live intro, Che discusses how she connects to people both spiritually and mentally as she is a mental person. For her it’s never really been a physical thing. Since Ché is all about what she can’t see. She believes that certain things are in people. She can get food for thought for days. Ché is talking about mental food for thought.
In her own words, “Food for thought is an idiom or a phrase that I’ve been living by for some years now. You know, for me, I’m a mental person. I connect mentally to people. I connect spiritually to people. It’s never really been a physical thing. The physical is what you can see. I’m all about what I can’t see. You know, because I believe that certain things is in people. You can’t see it on the physical. You can’t see it. It’s not on them. It’s in them. So you know, for me, food for thought. There’s so many ways to flip that. I can get food for thought for days, you know? And you gotta eat to live. And when I say eat, I’m not talking about edible food. I’m talking about mental food for thought.”
On Split the Bread, Ché explained how she can rap better than most people. Her body language hard to understand because it don’t speak English. But sometimes the fastest road could never bring meaning. These bars of hers give us food for thought. It’s all about mental elevation.
Ché gives listeners some bold wisdom on Eat or Starve. They say penny for your thoughts, but Ché is giving nickels and dimes. She also said some of the most quotable lyrics such as “Wisdom bold when you old, but it sold for the Fisher-Price” and “Fiends on cloud nine like crack was in the sky”. Those were some of the most quotable lyrics in the song.
I rate this album 5/5*****!
