Review: Crash Crew – s/t

Crash Crew’s self-titled album from 1984 was one of the overlooked rap albums from 1984. The album has friendly rhymes and raps for all audiences around to enjoy. This album will certainly keep the party hype enough. There is a huge influence and incorporation of funk since this is an 80s album. Crash Crew’s self-titled album was a classic album released in the Golden age of rap. The music’s not wack. Each song is worth playing and not skipping.

Breaking Bells (Take Me To The Mardi Gras) was a song written during a time when people had longer attention spans and weren’t caught up in the hustle of living the fast life because the song is almost 7 1/2 minutes long and there are several verses. One can say this is the precursor to Ice T – What You Wanna Do.

The funky breaking bells beat fit appropriately with the raps as the bells follow the raps in a timely manner. However the funky breaking bells beat are considered low quality by today’s technological standards, but Crash Crew most certainly doesn’t care.

Crash Crew came here tonight to throw down and to spread the word all around town. So young ladies don’t front on Crash Crew now. You know that you want to get down. The music that you hear is a treat. So get your butt up out of your seat. The rap will have you stomping your feet to the sounds of the funky breaking bells beat. Rock the bells, rock the bells! Crash is in the house!

You feel the bass and the mid range too. The group that’s rockin’ is called the Crash Crew. So get a high that’s better than Cheeba. Then try to catch the Reggie Reg fever.

Barry B-Stro is capable of the wonderful as he can move the world with a push or a pull. He can do anything that’s asked of him such as climb a mountain, play hockey, or water ski. His talents never slow. They only grow. Barry B-Stro is not an average Joe.

EK Mike C built a rhyme that’s as tall as a tower in his mind. Take out any other lyrics with the strength of this power. So if you want to want to battle, you’ll have to bring your saddle. He will run you over like a herd of cattle. Show your face no more EK Mike C will run you through the door. Run a rhyme down by law. This is EK Mike C’s advice. There ain’t an emcee in the world who would ever wanna pay the price.

The G-Man is the rapper cowhand. The quick draw emcee from the Rio Grande who was born on the plains and raised on the prairie. That where he learned to rap and fire rap real steady. When he comes through the town emcees skedaddle.

MC ShuBee is back again. The boogie woogie king is just doing his thing. And when he rocks a fly rhyme, you’ll see what I mean. MC ShuBee is a hundred proof like Gordon’s Gin and Tropicana. And he is the only emcee with all of the juice. Now you know the truth.

The news is posted and the word has spread that MC Reggie Reg is coming out ahead. So ladies, he advises that you close your eyes because what you see just might hypnotize you. And words will be said that make you lose your head. When you finally wake up you’ll be in your bed. Say you had a dream or a nightmare scene of a light skinned brother on the mix machine who kept rocking the house without a mistake. And the emcees he had were like icing on cake. So let your body lose control.

What’s up fly girls? Would you like to take a trip around the world with Barry B-Stro? So don’t be afraid because all expenses paid. Bring champagne. He doesn’t like Kool-Aid. He’s got a private jet too. So buckle your seat belt because your match is met. And when we land, he’ll spend ten grand. So don’t be embarrassed because he is your man. Spread the word all around town.

EK Mike C says let the deejays cut and let the emcees rap. If they really sound good then let your fingers snap because if rap is on your mind and you really want to do it. You can bet your bottom dollar there ain’t really nothing to it. EK Mike C steps to success. Put your fingers to a pen and you’ll be the best. You got to pick an idea with a positive view. Put some meaning to your work and comprehend what you do. So young ladies, don’t front on him now.

G-Man is ranked number one lover in the book of lists. Like a peppermint stick you can’t resist. Bon Appétit. His love is sweet. So damn sweet you’ll wanna eat. Like the chocolate candy that is your favorite treat. Come on young ladies, let’s tumble in the sheets. Just lay on your back and let’s get it on. The mellow G-Man won’t do you wrong because his love is long and his back is strong. You’re wanted through the night until the next morning. They know that you want to get down.

MC ShuBee is the coolest emcee that’s in the place. He is like Al Capone on the microphone. All the ladies in the world they won’t leave him alone. The brother takes no jive. You never met another emcee so sweet.

These were some of the most quotable lyrics to the song.

Okie Doke, cowpoke, if you think it’s a joke
I’ll cut you down in my gun smoke

In my mind I built a rhyme that’s as tall as a tower
Take out any other lyrics with the strength of this power

So get a high that’s better than Cheeba
Then try to catch the Reggie Reg fever

Let the deejays cut and let the emcees rap
If they really sound good then let your fingers snap
‘Cause if rap is on your mind and you really want to do it
You can bet your bottom dollar there ain’t really nothing to it

Put your fingers to a pen and you’ll be the best
You got to pick an idea with a positive view
Put some meaning to your work and comprehend what you do

EK Mike C taught people how to rap with these lyrics. New school rappers, take note. EK Mike C’s second verse was the most inspirational and educational verse in the song that was inspiring to many people.

Let the deejays cut and let the emcees rap
If they really sound good then let your fingers snap
‘Cause if rap is on your mind and you really want to do it
You can bet your bottom dollar there ain’t really nothing to it
EK Mike C steps to success
Put your fingers to a pen and you’ll be the best
You got to pick an idea with a positive view
Put some meaning to your work and comprehend what you do
And now you know I’m right, I’m not singing a song and
I can never boy ever be wrong, that’s right!
(So young ladies, don’t front on me now)
