Review: GINKGOA – GINKGOA EP

The self-titled GINKGOA EP is the New York City meets Paris electro swing EP where the sounds of New York City jazz meet French electro swing. All of the lyrics their songs are sung and performed in the French language which makes everything sound so romantic.

Nicolle Rochelle is from New York City, New York. Antoine Chatenet is from Paris, France. Together they decided to make French songs with American vibes. American songs with a French touch where time periods cross and inspirations collide. Electro swing and jazz meet pop on this EP along with their ideas and concepts.

The song Machin Machine is about this beautiful French model who is a universal chic. The song is a Nicolle Rochelle and Antoine Chatenet duo.

Machin Machine is a beautiful French model who is a universal chic. She is not just a model. She is also a Nobel Prize. Damn she’s beautiful. She does not care what about others says and what others think. What does the Emperor of China do while she dances? Who cares? What the crowd sings at what the redhead lady is wearing when the world is falling apart.

De New York à Paris is the New York City-Paris connection where New York City meets Paris and where the sounds of New York City jazz meet French electro swing. However Nicolle Rochelle sings throughout most of the song. Nicolle sang about how she fells in love with a jazz singer whom she met in her hometown of New York City, New York. Her heart leads her to move to Paris, France since her lover is originally from there.

In the black and white of Times Square, it is without a doubt that Nicolle prefers the pink and green flower gardens along with the old suburbs in the light. There was a jazz singer she knew. The missing blue note from Manhattan. From its avenues which she came. Nicolle fell in love with this jazz singer. From New York to Paris, her heart has chosen Paris, France to live in since her lover is originally from there. Nicolle is his for the rest of her life. His dazed look. His big green and gray eyes are what she loves about him.

Nicolle moves forward with her eyes wide open. Nicolle is curious about everything. Excessive love is over. She want beauty and romance like in an old Abel Gance movie. And she dances from New York to Paris. Endless memories are in the air. More than picking them to worry about. Ordinary story coats that keep you warm even in winter.

Dolorès is the horn driven jazz song backed with electro swing production. The horns used make the song very lively and vibrant. All of the lyrics are sung in French no doubt.

Last Tango is the closer to the GINKGOA EP which uses a mixture of jazz instrumentation and electro swing production. All of the lyrics are sung in French of course. Nicolle Rochelle takes control of the song as she lets her vocals and singing prosper. Nicolle Rochelle sings throughout most of the song.

I rate this EP 5/5*****!!
