Review: Various Artists – For Sentimental Reasons Timeless Standards From a Golden Age in Music

Various Artists – For Sentimental Reasons Timeless Standards From a Golden Age in Music is an instrumental jazz album from 2021 which features timeless classic jazz standards from David Huntsinger and friends. The album has light jazz arrangements from David Huntsinger and friends with production assistance from Dan Rudin. You have some divine crystal clear production which makes the instrumentation sublime and relaxing. All of the musicians did a spectacular job covering these classic jazz standards. The acoustics, percussion, and bass sound perfect. Some could consider this elevator music or lounge music played at a speakeasy. But this is light smooth jazz and easy listening.

Just In Time is a bit more upbeat and revisits where Unforgettable left off. Both the piano and saxophone work great together on this song. The song follows an uptempo jazz pattern and rhythm. Notice how that upright bass follows the pattern and rhythm.

The song Unforgettable uses a romantic sophisticated saxophone over a piano layered background. Both the piano and saxophone work great together on this song. The song moves to a slow smooth jazz groove. Perfect to play on/during a rainy day. The song Unforgettable is an unforgettable jazz standard that is a classic.

They Can’t Take That Away From Me is a cover of a famous Fred Astaire song by the same name. They Can’t Take That Away From Me tells of lovers who cannot be separated in spirit even if they are apart. The song made its debut in the 1937 musical Shall We Dance. The song no doubt had a romantic atmosphere.

Come Rain or Come Shine is a cover of a song of the name written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. That saxophone makes the song very romantic and sublime. The song was written for the 1946 Broadway musical St. Louis Woman. The song is modest and sweet in nature. Come rain or come shine means no matter what the circumstances may be. That is the case with this love song.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!
