Review: Indigo Swing – Indigo Swing

Indigo Swing – Indigo Swing is one of the lesser known jazz albums from 1994 from the swing revival movement. The album has everything from love songs to dance songs for the nightclub. Not much data sonification was used on the album since this was a jazz album filled with swing jazz. Some of the songs use spoken word bits like in a radio drama like Swing lover for example.

Swing lover is a beautiful upbeat swing jazz song. The song serves as a wake up call for men to comfort their women and be there for them.

If you find you’ve been neglecting that someone you call your own and your phone calls aren’t connecting when you know she should be home. Brother, you gotta stop your rambling. She can’t love a rollin’ stone. What she really cares about is that she’s all alone. Men, stay at home with your baby alone. Try to be still every once in a while.

The Blue Suit Boogie song is a love song where a lady dumps her gentleman and tells him she is no longer his lover and they are through with their relationship. Their memories of them dancing are shared throughout the song. Swing jazz meets blues style boogie pop on Blue Suit Boogie.

That is the reason this lady left the gentleman.

This gentleman remembers the day she took his by the hand. She said that she was his. This lady told the gentleman, “I’m gonna let you be my man. Get your money, honey I know what to do.
Today I saw the perfect blue color for you. And honey, you’ll look so cute in your brand new gabardine suit.” Both of them went jumpin’ and-a-jivin’ across the floor. Reelin’ and-a-rockin’ til a quarter to 4 AM swinging across the floor. Just her and him swinging in his brand new blue gabardine suit.

It’s been 6 months and he hasn’t gone swingin’ at all. He spends his nights cryin’ while his blue gabardine suit hangs in the hall.

But he woke up this morning with a sweet smile on my face. This gentleman thinks his broken heart will finally find a resting place because the girl he met today is so reet petite. He met a petite woman with girlish features. So sweet and lovely. And light on her feet. She says, “Honey, you sure look cute in your fine blue gabardine suit.” Both of them went jumpin’ and-a-jivin’ across the floor. Reelin’ and-a-rockin’ til a quarter to 4 AM swinging across the floor. Just her and him swinging in his brand new blue gabardine suit.

So Far Away From Me is a sad heartbreaking mournful swing jazz song with a bit of modern creative elements used. The song discusses how he would like to reach out and touch his lady but she is so far away from him due to being located a distance several miles away. They’re full of good intentions but sometimes some time apart will do good in a situation like this.

Lately this gentleman started dreaming of things that him and his lover could be when they are lying here together. But she is so far away from him. It’s time that this gentleman should tell her how her beauty sets him free. He could reach right out and touch her. But she is so far away from him.

They were full of good intentions. Someone’s wrong and someone’s right. But he can’t get used to coming home to her frozen heart at night. He can’t get used to coming home to a stranger he once knew. If David slew the lion and Moses split the sea, won’t she tell him how she seem so near but so far away from him?

They’re full of good intentions and some time apart will do. He’ll try to make her happy. But he is sad as he could be while she is so far away from him.
