Review: Ruff Draft – 601 Ridaz

Ruff Draft – 601 Ridaz showed that ruggedness, delivery, and essence Mississippi rap has. DJ Paul produced their entire album with those dark beats of his. This album served as an example of gangsta rap from the Dirty South. The album showcased Street Smart Records connections and ties to the state of Mississippi. That makes sense given that Mississippi was their second biggest market (now fourth biggest market). Tupelo, Mississippi was doing it major during the mid-1990s. Ruff Draft and Gangsta B were the first ones to put Tupelo, Mississippi on the map.

Ruff Draft – 601 Ridaz is one of the lesser known obscure albums from Street Smart Records that hardly anyone mentions or talks about. Sadly not too many people know about this obscure album.

Constantly Thinking (Gangsta Walk) (DJ Paul Remix) is quite spooky and creepy due to the production by DJ Paul. The audio quality is unbelievable for a song recorded in 1996. You can’t beat that old school rap sound or that Memphis sound. One thing that stands out is those hard snares.

One thing that stands out about Pretend To Be Pimps is those hard snares. The quality of the song is beautiful due to the production by DJ Paul.

I rate this album 5/5*****!
