Review: Vengaboys – The Party Album!

Vengaboys – The Party Album! is the ultimate house album filled with classic party hits and dance floor numbers such as We Like To Party! Up & Down, We’re Going To Ibiza!, Parada de Tettas, To Brazil!, and Superfly Slick Dick. Which was released in 1999. The songs on this album revolve solely on partying and having a good time which is what the Vengaboys are all about. Of course you have the obligatory love ballads, dance floor songs, instrumental songs. and occasional spiritual songs. You’ve got some catchy but repetitive lyrics supported by rhythmic drum patters over futuristic Euro dance sounds. You can hear that old school sound mixed with that new school sound. This album has that platinum electronic sound which is the platinum sound for this album. So make some noise for the Vengaboys!

We Like To Party! is the all time favorite and party hit which took the Vengaboys into international stardom in 1998 as this party hit took the charts by storm on a worldwide level. The song charted into the single digits on Billboard charts all across Europe and the Unites States. The song charted at #2 spot on the Top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the UK and the Ukraine.

The song is a soundtrack of summer. Well at least for some of us. Now some of you might remember the Six Flags commercial with the old man dancing. That Six Flags commercial used Vengaboys – We Like To Party!.

Every 80s kid, 90s kid, and 00s should remember the party hit We Like To Party! If not, then that loud foghorn from that 18 wheeler will refresh you memory. You automatically knew it was time to party when that loud foghorn starts to blare.

If that loud foghorn from that 18 wheeler doesn’t refresh you memory, then this memorable repetitive vocal sample using these lyrics surely will.

We like to party
We like, we like to party
We like to party
We like, we like to party
We like to party
We like, we like to party
We like to party

I’ve got something to tell ya as I’ve got news for you. Happiness is just around the corner as the Vengabus is coming. The wheels on the Vengabus are in motion. Get ready because they’re coming through. The Vengaboys will be driving the Vengabus and will be there for you soon enough. They are closer than you think.

The Vengabus is coming and everybody’s jumping! New York to San Francisco. An intercity disco. The wheels of steel are turning and traffic lights are burning. So if you like to party, get on and move your body!

The song Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! is most notable for its catchy phrase “Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, I want you in my room” and innocent lyrics. The song was a non-raunchy love song. Sure enough, their lyrics are what made the song a certified party hit. Old school Atari-esque blips are layered over new school electronic dance music.

The whole world was singing Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! in 1998 and 1999 as this song went to top of the singles charts in 33 countries! Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! re-entered midweek UK Top 40 and the Spotify charts after going viral in 2017. Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! went viral when Jordan Cairns and his friends drove through Cheltenham blasting the song at full volume for everyone to hear. This caused people to launch sort of an impromptu party merrily.

Vengaboys are back in town! You hear that correctly. They’ve come back with another hit which is a love song this time around. If you’re alone and you need a friend, someone to make you forget your problems, then this song is just what you need.

These lyrics are what this song an innocent love song.

If you’re alone and you need a friend
Someone to make you forget your problems
Just come along baby, take my hand
I’ll be your lover tonight

Whoaa whoaa
This is what I wanna do
Whoaa whoaa
Let’s have some fun
Whoaa whoaa
One on one just me and you
Whoaa whoaa

Boom boom boom boom
I want you in my room
we’ll spend the night together
From now until forever
Boom boom boom boom
I wanna go boom boom
And spend the night together
Together in my room

Ho Ho Vengaboys follows that upbeat Eurodance rhythm and sound over an electronic pop soundscape. The dance beats are what make this song enjoyable. Sadly Ho Ho Vengaboys was not as successful as Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!, We Like To Party!, We’re Going To Ibiza!, or Up & Down. The label dropped the ball on this song by not making this song into a single and have a music video to go along with it. Ho Ho Vengaboys could have been a #2 hit for the Vengaboys.

Okay, party people. Are you ready? ‘Cause I am! Here we go!

Whoah! We’re gonna have a good time

Whoah! We’re going to Ibiza

Parada De Tettas is the Latin music infused party jam where the Vengaboys use Latin sounds and rhythms. You can obviously tell that from the song title. Not too many people know this but La parada de tettas is Portuguese for “parade of titties”.

To Brazil! is the Brazilian anthem for the Vengaboys. They were influenced by the dance music and Latin music from Brazil when they wrote this song. This whole song is dedicated to the country of Brazil.

The lyrics “Te amo, Brazil! Saudades! Amo vocês! Gostosos!” are Portuguese and translate in English to “I love you, Brazil! Miss you! Love you! Hot guys!” The boys in Rio De Janeiro got that “boom boom boom boom” and the girls in Rio De Janeiro feel like “zoom zoom zoom zoom”. The beat don’t stop in every villa and favela. Ohoho, where is the party? The party is in Brazil!

Get Down is another name for the song Up & Down which is a repetitive Eurodance song which launched the Vengaboys onto the charts yet again. This song also helped them with reaching international stardom. You can feel that upbeat uptempo positive sound as the song plays. Up & Down has that 90’s era feel and is an absolute banger. This is the only song you can sing without searching for the lyrics. The song is also perfect for a warm-up during exercise. The song is still as fresh today as it was in 1998.

Movin’ Around has beats that will make you want to move around and dance. The song is about dancing and love. The beat’s gonna make you move. You start to groove. Now put your hands in the air. Feel the bass go down. Love is all about movin’ around and dancing to the groove alongside those beats.

The Vengaboys never fail to disappoint audience with their superb instrumental songs as always. The song is still as fresh today as it was back in 1998 and 1999. The song will make you want to party like it was 1999.

You And Me is a trancelike electronic instrumental track that surely enough make you want to dance. Eurodance meets world music on the song You And Me. The song uses a great mix of trance. The Vengaboys never fail to disappoint audience with their superb instrumental songs as always. The song will make you want to party.

The Vengabeat is similar to Get Down, You And Me, Parada De Tettas, and Movin’ Around which is due to the fast uptempo dance sounds and rhythm. The song follows a fast dance rhythm as most of their instrumental songs normally do. You can feel that upbeat uptempo positive sound as the song plays. They never fail to disappoint audience with their superb instrumental songs.

Paradise is a relaxing angelic Eurodance song backed by an electronic instrumental. The electronic instrumental soundscape is what makes this song so relaxing and calming. Yet those beats are so intense but not too intense as they are not very thick. The beats are crisp and thin. The Vengaboys never fail to disappoint audience with their superb instrumental songs as always. The song is still as fresh today as it was back in 1999.

Superfly Slick Dick is about a man who is a complete showoff around women and is fraudulent. He is a fraud as he often misleads women by telling them lies. He is often seen and heard lying to these women. That is why women (and men) call him Superfly Slick Dick.

Denise has been in love with this man for quite some time now. She inevitably falls in love with him only to find out he is not at all what he claims to be. She finds out this man is totally fake and is fraudulent. Denise is heartbroken and ashamed to discover he is a fraud. That is why she calls him out all over this song. A sense of relief is felt when she does so.

Big boy here is showing off to women all around the city. He is still the same for such a suite thinking he is so bad all while hustlin’ girls with his handy cellphone acting like he is so busy when in reality he is not. That is actually true. Everyone calls him, “Superfly, superfly. Superfly slick dick.”

Denise notices this man is all over the city. She inevitably falls in love with him of course. However she discovers that he is a complete fraud. So she decides to tell him her true thoughts about him and dump him in the process.

She tells him, “Baby, let me tell you, you’re the worst I ever had. That highbrow attitude really doesn’t impress me. I know where you’re coming from and see right through your game. Luxury overdose won’t make you possess me. Baby let me tell you, in the end it’s all the same.” and “Don’t think I’m crying and trying to get you out of my heart. No need denying that you have been lying right from the start. I thought this love would take us to the heights of sensuality. But now I know that you’re not even half the man you said you’d be.”

Denise tells him he is the worst thing she has ever had and the worst person she has dated. That highbrow attitude of his really doesn’t impress her much. Or at all for that matter. Denise won’t let his luxuries and material possessions possess her in any way, form, or fashion.

She knew that he had been lying to her right from the start of their relationship. She thought their love would take them to heights of sensuality. But she discovered he was a complete fraud as he was not even half the man he said he would be. This left her brokenhearted and ashamed. Yet she felt a sense of relief after being brokenhearted. Denise is now aware of this and dumps him.

She tells him this during one of her verses to this song. “Don’t think I’m crying and trying to get you out of my heart. No need denying that you have been lying right from the start. I thought this love would take us to the heights of sensuality. But now I know that you’re not even half the man you said you’d be.”

All Night Passion is an electronic instrumental which uses a great mix of trance. All Night Passion is similar to You And Me.

24 Hours is yet another electronic instrumental from the Vengaboys which is extremely fast and upbeat thanks to those dance beats and electronic sounds.

To The Rhythm! serves as the closer for this album and is yet another electronic instrumental. This time a bit of trance is incorporated into the electronic soundscape and dance beats. This is one of those songs that will definitely make you want to dance.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!
