Hayley Mary – The Drip is a loud eccentric pop rock album from 2021. The production is polished and cleanly. Her songwriting had improved significantly since the previous year.
The Drip explained the drip inside of Hayley. The song deals with alcoholism and drugs which lead to their edgy relationship which lead to her man’s declining health affecting him greatly.
It was a dirty grey day. There was a constant drizzle as they drank Lucozade. Though it was not artisanal. Just a fizzling of orange. The drip inside of Hayley. Her friend was walking around in bare feet because he’s started to use drugs. He says there’s nothing more tragic than a dead person’s shoes. Now he’s wearing the crown in his own cashmere shanty town. He always were the clown.
Now sinking in a puddle on the side of the road. They thought it was a rock but found it was a rose. They were on the drip.
Now there he goes breaking habits. The cat that Hayley can’t feed. Her cat can make her happy but not for long because patterns only keep her attention for a little while. The truth is patterns only your attention for a little while.
The third time their alarm went off, she just left him snoring for a little while because getting up again would be boring for a dirty grey day. Or for a bubble in her tea. And Hayley has been thinking how his demons are affecting his health. And maybe if she leaves him sleeping when he is punching himself, he might just fight them all off and they can fall right back in love. Oh, the drip inside of them.
