Review: Twisted Black – The Life of Tommy Burns

At one point during the mid-2000s is when Twisted Black (Tommy Burns III) was in his prime with street fame in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the most sought after rap artist in Texas during the 2000s decade. This album was a catalyst that launched his street fame in Forth Worth and eventually Texas. His tales are personal testimonies of hustling and street life. Twisted Black strays away from the hype of mainstream rap. He is bold in his raps. His real life accounts of survival have earned him respect across the South (Southern United States). Nothing but that gutter sound!

Twisted Black describes his need to let it be known on the track Still Hood. He lets it be known to everyone that he is still hood regardless no matter what. DL and Tracy Nelson produced Still Hood, but DL takes the credit and spotlight for production of Still Hood.

Walk in My Shoes takes us as listeners on a journey through the life of Twisted Black. His tales are personal testimonies of hustling and street life. It gives us a perspective on Twisted Black. Walk in My Shoes is about his real life accounts of survival and ambition during his hustling days. 3R labelmate CP is featured on the track. DFW underdog producer Erotic D produced the track Walk in My Shoes.

The track I Got You was inspired by the movie Scarface for Life which incidentally and ironically features Scarface of the Geto Boys.

Legendary yet overlooked DJ Goldfinger produced Tell Me How You Feel. Ain’t No King is a Lil Flip diss where Twisted Black disses T.I. as well. Twisted Black does a beautiful job rapping on the track Beautiful with 3R labelmate Yashar.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: Crooked I – Hood Star

Crooked I – Hood Star was one of the hottest lyrical West Coast rap albums from 2010 that is a West Coast classic. Each track is sure fire. Many of the tracks were meant for his 2003 album Say Hi To The Bad Guy.

Hood Star explains why Crooked I is a hot lyricist. The song is pure fire.

You’re fucking with a nigga hot as a flamethrower. That is Crooked I. He shoots up the Range Rover. He blows some of your brain on one of your dang shoulders. Deranged when he bangs on ya.Fucking niggas up beyond recognition.

Crooked I is in the neon Expedition wishing for collision. He is quick to predict the way you gon’ swerve. Crooked I is a mixture between a banker and a baseball pitcher for the way I throw money at them take it off strippers. He is faded off liquor while breaking off chippers. Better run with the wind or catch a 100 uppercuts right under your chin.

Crooked I keeps all shit official on his song called Fuck Em. This is an explicit raw lyrical rap song with an aggressive punch.

Crooked I keeps all shit official. Walking through the mall with a pistol. Twisting the top off with some Cisco. He’s paid like I’m Robert Downey Jr.’s drug connect. He is the roughest cat that’s rapping. And tucking gats for blasting. He’s the nigga you should hear. Crooked I does to lock it down chips and socking out pricks. You know what happens to niggas when they get too comfortable. Niggas get knocked the fuck out they position! But we gon’ roll! Fuck it!

These lyrics show his aggressive delivery.

Yeah, tuck that Glock, fuck that cop
Bust that shot, what’s that hot?
Fuck this industry, drink that Hennessy
Ride on your enemies, holla if you feeling me

Niggas trying to figure out how to defeat me
But my shots will make Swiss cheese out of your Bentley
Now that you are with me
We can get it crunk and things

Crooked I tells us that it feels so damn good when you’re so damn hood on the track So Damn Hood. He brought back that aggressive lyrical gangsta rap with this track. This was another one of the illest songs that was fire.

I rate this album 5/5*****!

Review: Fatlip – Torpor

The new Fatlip album Torpor has some of the most powerful songs heard in the genre of hip hop/rap in 2022. This is real hip hop/rap that is straight up fire. SccIt has been working his ass off on the Fatlip album Torpor. He put his heart and soul into the album to rest assure he didn’t release just any old bullshit. Mastering took a bit longer than expected but album is finally completed. The mixing and mastering is great. The album was produced by Siavash The Grouch and SccIt. It all comes down to the production and cadence. SccIt isstill killin shit. Fatlip never disappoints.

Fatlip says, “Torpor is a state of hibernation, in which the artist is waking up from. This record was a longtime coming. Get ready for a beast to come outta hibernation”

Dust In The Wind features Krazy Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony. This is the first time a member of Bone Thugs N Harmony will have collaborated with a member of The Pharcyde. You have 2 of the most legendary groups in hip hop/rap on one song. What is more brehsive than that? Siavash The Grouch and SccIt produced the song with Chris Glove. This is real hip hop/rap that is straight up fire. The song uses a beautiful sample of Bootsy Collins – Munchies for Your Love. The bass is lovely.

February is a powerful symbolic yet iconic song on the album which embodies all the bullshit people on Earth have been going through since the COVID pandemic in 2020. COVID changed our lives in a powerful sense and way. February was produced by Siavash The Grouch and SccIt.

Wake Up marked Fatlip’s return outta hibernation after 2 long years.

I rate this album 5/5*****!

Review: The Dayton Family – What’s On My Mind?

The Dayton Family – What’s On My Mind was the best Flint Rap album of 1994. Their album tackled subjects such as deindustrialization, poverty, crime, drugs, and more. Highlights include Flint Town, Dope Dayton Ave., Nutty Niggaz, and What’s On My Mind.

There were several diss songs dissed aimed at Flint rap groups. Particularly Took-N-Bone and DOA (Dead On Arrival). The Dayton Family dissed Took-N-Bone and DOA (Dead On Arrival) on songs such as Smoke For Free, Watch Yo Ass, Nutty Niggaz, Potato Chip, and Flint Niggaz Don’t Play. Took-N-Bone got dissed on songs such as Smoke For Free and Watch Yo Ass.

The album was released on Po’ Broke Records and Relativity Records in 1994. The Dayton Family was the most hardest rap group from Flint, Michigan.

Flint Town explained the deindustrialization, drugs, and crime that plagues Flint, Michigan. The Dayton Family feels there isn’t any way out of a bleak environment because politicians keep minorities oppressed.

Flint Town is the track that made The Dayton Family a legendary rap ground in the streets of Flint, the state of Michigan, and throughout the Midwest US. This is the absolute highlight track for this album. The Dayton Family comes with a “no holds barred attitude” in aggressive form on this track and several other tracks of theirs. The Dayton Family discusses to the listeners what’s on their mind while not holding back of course. Flint Town without a doubt is a classic track that still gets play to this very day by many people. Any fan of hardcore gangsta rap willing to accept the truth and daily reality will enjoy this track!

The Dayton Family refutes the notion that race does not matter in American society. Flint is not a prosperous scenic town inhabited by celebrities. Michael Jackson says “Black or white, it shouldn’t matter.”. This is a reference to Michael Jackson – Black Or White where Michael Jackson says race shouldn’t matter. Clearly Michael Jackson was living in an idealistic, magical place like Hollywood, California. Flint is a place where things are very rough and race matters. The Dayton Family feels there isn’t any way out of a bleak environment.

The city of Flint was once racially segregated by district zoning lines. These district zoning lines were politically structured and altered over the years. These district zoning lines were set up by politicians to keep minorities oppressed.

The movie industry pays no attention to the plight of Flint. Although, however, Michael Moore’s 1989 documentary Roger and Me shed light on the deindustrialization situation that hurt Flint severely.

Bootleg tried to go to college but didn’t feel he could fit in anyway due to his social, economic, and racial background. This indicates life in Flint is difficult and there is limited opportunity to receive higher education. There are several colleges in the area such as the University of Michigan – Flint, and Kettering University Bootleg makes commentary on discrimination in the college admissions process. University of Michigan’s Affirmative Action policies are often racist. This has been a big issue and still is.

Flint keeps people trapped in an impoverished environment. It is so hard to escape the drugs and violence that plague Flint. He refuses to work hard at a fast food franchise and still be poor. He can’t live in a nice condo as he would still be in the hood.

Dope Dayton Ave. was the Dayton Street anthem for King Hood about selling drugs back in the 1990s. The beats are polished and mastered in terms of production. But at the same time the beats sound raw. This is where The Dayton Family gets real raw. They are constantly aggressive on the track.

Dope Dayton Ave. is named after the infamous Dayton Avenue (Dayton Street), is known as one of the most crime-ridden streets in Flint, Michigan. Bootleg, Shoestring, and Backstabba rap about coming up from their own upbringings living in the hardest conditions of the United States of America. The trio’s name is derived from Dayton Avenue in Flint.

Backstabba gets hardcore and aggressive. The track is known for its patterns of aggressiveness. Read his verses used in the lyrics of Dope Dayton Ave.: “Nobody fucks me/Especially on Dayton Avenue/Because all I do is smoke weed, sell crack, and screw”

What’s On My Mind is another track that made The Dayton Family a legendary rap ground in the streets of Flint, the state of Michigan, and throughout the Midwest US. The Dayton Family discusses to the listeners what’s on their mind while not holding back of course. The Dayton Family comes with a “no holds barred attitude” in aggressive form on this track and several other tracks of theirs. Any fan of hardcore gangsta rap will enjoy this track!

The Dayton Family does not hold back for anything! For example, read these verses to the lyrics of What’s On My Mind.:

What’s on my mind is a rape in progress
I got my dick in between some bitch’s breasts
What’s on my mind is a knife at a hoe’s throat
I took her gold, her pussy, and her mink coat

The Dayton Family lets us know that niggaz from Flint, Michigan don’t play around with the track Flint Niggaz Don’t Play. The Dayton Family comes with a “no holds barred attitude” in an aggressive form on this track and several other tracks of theirs. They let us know Flint niggas don’t play! Any fan of hardcore gangsta rap willing to accept the truth and daily reality will enjoy this track!

Shoestring dissed DOA (Dead on Arrival) and Took N Bone in the track with these lyrics. “Cause you’s a muthafuckin how you know I’m talkin to/I ain’t sayin no names, bitch, now what the fuck you wanna do?” There was a lot of hate going on behind closed doors with DOA.

Shoestring packin glock for the 94. And a triple beamer. He’ll squeeze the trigger. Bitch, you gonna die today. He wanted to kill her. You can find a killer like him lurkin with a tec-9. Don’t you bitches give Shoestring shit because hoes know he is out to kill for his when he has to necessarily. If you squeal you get killed or caught up in the rapture. Infrared is on your head. So bitch he gots to blast ya.

So if you got some beef, you betta let your nuts hang. Cause bitches are being wasted and tasted like cocaine. Niggas are talkin shit, but they don’t really want none. If you toot and oot, bitches come and get you some. Shoestring don’t discriminate. So what the fuck you want to do?

Niggas and bitches are catching bullets. Cops are catching slugs too. Shoestrings on the fuckin loose and creepin in the fuckin deuce with the deep dish gold Daytons and 16 fully juiced switches. Okies on the fuckin dash. Smokin on that open hash.

Niggas are gettin jealous. But Shoestring is packin a 44 and it’s tucked up under the seat. The 44 is for them hoes and niggaz who want to engage in beef or get combative. This goes for you if you talk some shit. Flint niggas don’t play!

Shoestring is gonna work by doing more dirt than a little bit. Play your punk ass like clock and bitch this is your last tick. Niggas get they ass kicked for pulling in more hoes stuff. Muthafuckas steppin up straight gettin smoked like cro blunts. Living in Flint city is such a pity but Shoestring is holdin his for The Dayton Family. GD 74.

Any static got a uzi, automatic and a 9 milli-mil. So grab your fuckin grill when he pulls it.Shoestring will empty the clip into your face and make you take these fuckin bullets. Because you niggas kill him claiming that you are real g’s knowing damn well that you hoes never thrill him. So fall back from all that and then some. Fools get dropped and popped from fuckin around with shotguns. He is the muthafuckin grave digga hittin niggas where it hurts. Punks try to jump fuck around and get they shit split.

Shoestring is a villain killin niggas for the fun of it. He is a monster from the streets. Any beef and he’ll make you bite the bullet. Shoestring is a psychopath from Dayton Ave. Niggas don’t want none of it. Actin like a bitch even thought they are packing one but scared to pull it.

Ain’t no limitations on the niggas that he is runnin through He never ever loved a hoe. Niggas are tryin to run the race but he is droppin them every mile he goes. Toss em up, toss em up. Who in the fuck gets fucked next? Busting caps in bitches mouths, raping hoes, and takin sex is what Shoestring does. Felt like Tina Turner. What the fuck love got to do wit it?

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: Michael Jackson – Got To Be There

Got To Be There is a highlight album in Michael Jackson’s career which did not get much attention or the attention it deserved. The album today is considered by Michael Jackson fans to be an amazing classic. The album has amazing pop classics such as You’ve Got A Friend, Ain’t No Sunshine, Got To Be There, and In Our Small Way. However the album is mostly cover songs. Despite the album being mostly cover songs of songs by different artists and groups, Got To Be There is the soundtrack to many people’s lives. That is what makes this album a classic.

In Our Small Way is cute, special, and moving. Not to mention the cheerful mood. After all, this is a Michael Jackson song that features Michael in the spotlight of course. The song teaches us that a smile makes all the difference in the world. He changes the world in a small way through smiles. Love is all we need. Michael Jackson and Beatrice Verdi wrote a portion of the lyrics.

These lyrics in Verse 3 say it all. “Just a little time is all it takes/What a difference just a smile can make, you will see/Love is all we need” Love and smiles are what we need. This is the song summarized in nut shell.

So do these lyrics. “Maybe you and I cannot do great things/We may not change the world in one day/But we still can change some things today/In our small way” “In despair we will be the hope/And the prayer that frees the soul/We will be there to share each lonely road/Because we love, I know/We care enough”

Michael covers Carole King – You’ve Got A Friend on the song You’ve Got A Friend. Michael did an amazing job of singing the lyrics despite not having sung the song before. So you have to give the man credit for that.

Here is an interesting fact about the song You’ve Got A Friend. “You’ve got a friend in me” were the lyrics later used in Randy Newman’s song You’ve Got A Friend In Me that was used in the Toy Story movies series. Randy Newman gave Michael Jackson credit of course.

Michael Jackson did an amazing job singing and covering Bill Withers – Ain’t No Sunshine on the song Ain’t No Sunshine. You can hear and feel emotion as he is singing the leads and hooks. Even as a kid, you already tell Michael had that soul touch inside of his voice. That’s how beautiful his singing is. You don’t often hear a cover song as perfect as the original version.

Read the lyrics and you can hear Michael Jackson singing the song.

[Verse 1]
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
It’s not warm when she’s away
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And she’s always gone too long
Anytime she goes away

[Verse 2]
Wonder this time when she’s gone
Wonder if she’s going to stay
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And this house just ain’t no home
Anytime she goes away

Maria (You Were The Only One) was about how a girl named Maria was the only one for Michael. He begs her to come back into his life repeatedly. She keeps running away. The song serves as a plea for sympathy.

I rate this album 4/5****.

Review: Michael Jackson – Forever, Michael

Michael Jackson – Forever, Michael strayed away from the Motown pop sound Michael had been accustomed to singing to. He had adopted a smoother soul sound with elements of funk incorporated. Michael sung as a tenor rather than soprano as he did before. Forever, Michael would Michael’s final album for Motown as music was changing and evolving during that time in 1975. Disco and funk were selling at that time. While not as successful as his previous 3 albums, Forever, Michael was the soundtrack to many people’s lives. That is what makes this album a classic.

Take Me Back serves as a plea for Michael to have that girl back in his life. He will do anything to get her back in his life. Take Me Back is The Jackson 5 – I Want You Back revisited.

He wants the girl he is dating to take him back where he belongs. He belongs with her. Michael thought the grass was green on the other side and the sun shone brighter without saying goodbye. This is not true as tears fall like rain. Ain’t no love in this world without her.

Michael tries to find himself as he keeps seeing her face. He explains this in the lyrics to Verse 2. “In my search to find myself/I saw your face and nothing else/Every place I go with everything I do/I still feel the need for you/“

He wants to make up for all the problems he’s caused her. He asks for forgiveness. He tells her, “Take me back. Forgive me. Take me back to where I belong. If you can, if you can find it in your heart to forgive me.” Clearly he needs her in his life.

Lyrics to the outro highlight this.

[Outro]
Take me back, forgive me
Take me back where I belong
If you can, if you can find it
In your heart to forgive me

Just a Little Bit of You is a sweet sordid love song. Just a Little Bit of You was written by the Holland Brothers of Holland–Dozier–Holland.

Sometimes a doctor’s remedy does cure love sickness. In some cases, the power of love is all you need to cure love sickness. Just a little bit that person you love will surely keep the doctor away. That is in a daily dosage.

The power of the woman he loves love can heal. No doctor’s remedy can ever do what she does for him. Just a little bit of her every day will surely keep the doctor away. That is all he needs. Since the day Michael had been loving her, he cannot catch a cold or the flu. The sweet loving she has been giving him has become a daily need for him definitely.

These lyrics explore how love can heel.

[Verse 1]
I told my mama how I feel about your power
Your love can heal, no doctor’s remedy
Ever do what you do for me

[Verse 2]
Just a little bit of you every day
Will surely keep the doctor away
Eeny weeny teeny bit of your love
Baby it is all I need, it is all I need

[Verse 3]
Since the day I have been loving you
I cannot catch a cold, I cannot catch the flu
The sweet loving you have been giving me
Has become my daily need

[Verse 4]
Just a little of your love, every day
It is all I need, that is all I need
Just a little bit baby
That is all I need, that is all I need

[Verse 5]
So do not send no doctor to my door
Because Doctor John has been here before
Do not you send him, just come yourself
Bring your love and nothing else

[Outro]
Ooh just a, just a
Just a little bit of you every day
Will surely keep the doctor away
Just a little bit of you every day
Will surely keep the doctor away

The song We’re Almost There teaches us not to give up on our hopes, dreams, and plans. This is one of the inspirational and motivational songs on the album that has a positive vibe.

No matter how hard the task may seem, don’t give up on you hopes, dreams, and plans. No broken bridges can turn you around. What you’re searching for can be found. Life’s a long, hard climb. So don’t give up on yourself is the message Michael is trying to convey to us.

Michael coveys that message in the lyrics to Verse 1

[Verse 1]
No matter how hard
The task may seem
Don’t give up our plans
Don’t give up our dreams
No broken bridges
Can turn us around
‘Cause what we’re searching for
Will soon be found

I rate this album 4/5****!

Review: Little Violet – Silent Movie EP

The Little Violet – Silent Movie EP has some of the swingingst upbeat jazz songs you’ll ever hear in your life. Swinging Melodies and Limits are some fine examples. The EP is reminiscent of the jazz music used in silent movies during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The EP uses early ragtime jazz from the late 19th century and late 20th century along with swing jazz from the 20th century. Little Violet does not fail to impress her audiences.

Little Violet finds that the secret to eternal youth which is to keep on dancing in her song Swinging Melodies. She shows her appreciation for jazz music on this song also. That is her passion and affection.

Swinging Melodies is a swinging jazz song which mixes electro swing with vintage jazz from the 1940s with modern jazz. Swinging Melodies is one of the swinging jazz songs on the album and is one of the most jazzy songs on the album of course obviously.

Little Violet’s man calls Little Violet on the telephone. Little Violet pretends she is not at home. However Little Violet doesn’t want to end up being a lonely wife. She is now sad and clueless with no appetite. She wants to kick her heels and break the seal. She found the secret to eternal youth which is to keep on dancing. That’s the truth she found out.

Those swinging melodies have got her on her knees. She’ll worship that bass line as it shakes up through her spine. Watch Little Violet blow her horn as you become reborn. She’ll sing that jazzy tune until her face turns blue.

Friends will come and glow. Some live fast and some take it slow. Each one will make a mark. They can take you out the dark. When you need some help to get a hold of yourself, friends wills take you out and free your mind. Music soothes so you unwind. Music is soothing for you to unwind to.

Let go of the past. Dream and wake. Perfect your craft. You only have one life so live it well and not through the eyes of someone else. If you’re fighting in vain get off that moving train. Land on your feet and take a stand by following your own command.

Little Violet doesn’t want to be sedated. Working a 9 to 5 job is overrated. Life is what you make it. If you live fast, you die young. The music we’ve created is not too complicated. Get in the fast lane. Strip off the mundane. There’s only one way to go.

Little Violet looks to have for herself on her song Limits. She asks someone to push her to her limits. Also she encourages you to go outside your boundaries.

With a little bit of luck Little Violet will make it back alive. She is traveling at full speed ahead while living life on overdrive. Busy doing nothing and nothing keeps her busy. She pulled from left to right and it’s making her dizzy. Nothing in her pockets. She’s been rinsed dry. A man wants the money. She’s got to find an alibi quickly.

Tell her there is more to come in this mundane life as she is certain nothing else remains. Show her where to find the fun between the black and white. She asks someone to push her to her limits. She wants to shake the laws of physics and shatter boundaries.

Shake the laws of physics. Shatter boundaries. Stretch ambition. Conquer the world with your vision. Don’t take no for an answer. Fuel the fire inside ya. Take the role you were born to play. Give it all you got.

You are on the road to an early breakdown with all that baggage that has been weighing you down. Untie the knot and let the thread come loose. Let your mind unravel. You got nothing to lose. Don’t take no for an answer. Take the role you were born to play. Face your inner most fears. Take back those wasted years. Show them you will not stand by.

Little Violet searches for a gentleman to adore on the song Silent Movie. Silent Movie is reminiscent of the jazz music used in silent movies during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The song uses early ragtime jazz late 19th century and late 20th century along with swing jazz from the 20th century.

Little Violet don’t need no chitter chatter, sweet nothings, and tiresome natter because words get in the way. She doesn’t need to hear what you have to say. Chat up lines have become a bore for her to hear and endure. She just needs a gentleman she adores. A lustful hold and stare. A passionate love affair.

The lyrics imply that Little Violent wants to have a romantic passionate love affair with a gentleman. She wants a gentleman that has a lustful hold and stare. A gentleman that is physically strong. “A lustful hold and stare/A passionate love affair”

As you know by listening to her songs, Little Violet is an old fashioned girl looking for a gentleman to show her romance. She wants to be showered with kisses and a moonlit dance.

She wants a gentleman to woo her, sweep her off her feet, and she wants to be squeezed tight. She wants a gentleman to take her back to black and white like a silent movie. A gentleman will never tell like a silent movie. Little Violet doesn’t need any talking pictures.

This gentleman is dressed up in a suit and tie with polished shoes. He has slick back hair. Little Violet can’t refuse. One wink and she is his. This a simple tale where a boy meets a girl he loves. He serenades her with flowers and pearls. A lustful hold and stare. A passionate love affair.

The wandering eye now why don’t you learn. Those broken hearts will continue to burn. The picture house will help her redeem. Take her to the stars on the screen.

When lies become the truth, the trouble still remains despite the pain being eased. This man Little Violet dated cried wolf too many times. So he must pay for his lies and lying to her. That is the gist of Playing With Fire.

When lies become the truth, you’ve been told so many times they start to soothe the pain. When lies become the truth, it will ease the pain. Yet the trouble still remains. This man Little Violet dated cried wolf too many times. So he must pay for all his crimes. The force that least begs him to stay. He’s playing with fire. He is his own worst enemy.

By playing with fire, he raises it higher on corrupt conspiracy. If only he could see his false desire will haunt him in his sleep. Guilt at the core swallows him up. He needs to find somebody that he can confide in for all of his great mistakes before it’s too late.

Loneliness is overdue. Blaming everyone but himself. Little Violet is hoping he can see it through. However he is lost with no integrity and is losing all his sincerity. So he fights back with all his might to find he is playing with fire. He is his own worst enemy. Why can’t he see that false desire will haunt him in his sleep?

I rate this EP 5/5*!!

Review: Little Violet – Code Red

Little Violet – Code Red is a new upbeat electro swing album with jazz inspired love songs from 2021. These are some of the swingingst upbeat jazz songs you’ll ever hear in your life. Swinging Melodies and Taking You With Me are some fine examples. Little Violet does not fail to impress her audiences.

Little Violet shows a gentleman who has she fallen in love with her dance moves and how she specifically plants to satisfy him on the opener Good on Me.

Enter the room and take your seat. You’ll be greeted by a tasty treat from Little Violet. Don’t be shy. Just watch and learn. She’ll show you the moves and we’ll take turns. Lose yourself and get lost in time. You don’t have to be so dignified. Relax and enjoy the ride.

Little Violet shows a gentleman who has she fallen in love with her dance moves. She tells this gentleman not to be shy and just watch and learn the dance moves she makes. She also tells this gentleman he doesn’t have to be so dignified. And to relax and enjoy the ride she is taking him on. This particular gentleman is in for a treat. She clearly and explicitly wants to try him on. He would look good on Little Violet. It feels so good to the point that it can’t be wrong.

Little Violet shows a gentleman who has she fallen in love with her dance moves by telling him, “Enter the room and take your seat. You’ll be greeted by a tasty treat. Don’t be shy. Just watch and learn. I’ll show you the moves and we’ll take turns. Lose yourself. Get lost in time. Don’t got to be so dignified. Relax. Enjoy the ride. I wanna try you on. Baby, you’d look good on me. Right here’s where I belong. It feels so good it can’t be wrong.”

She tells him these sentences during the chorus, “I wanna try you on. Baby, you’d look good on me. Right here’s where I belong. It feels so good it can’t be wrong. I wanna try you on.”

There are no inhibitions or unexpected interruptions in his ways. She’ll let him ask for every turn. Little Violet will give him the praise that he deserves. She tells him, “Empty your mind. It’s time to play. No inhibitions in your way. I’ll let you ask for every turn. I’ll give you the praise that you deserve. Move away from the norm and let your inner freak shine. Sit back, relax, embrace your quirk.”

Their fantasy is hard at work as they dance away swiftly to the upbeat uptempo swing jazz music playing in the background. They are masterminds who are truly one of a kind. A work of art you’ll seek and find.

She tells him again, “I wanna try you on. Baby, you’d look good on me. Right here’s where I belong. It feels so good it can’t be wrong. I wanna try you on.”

Little Violet clearly wants to be this gentleman’s fantasy. She tells him how she will blow his mind by telling him, “Let me be your fantasy. Let me blow your mind. You can fill my senses. The possibilities are endless. Let me paint you by number. So deep down and under that we come up gasping for air.”

The wandering eye now why don’t you learn. Those broken hearts will continue to burn. The picture house will help her redeem. Take her to the stars on the screen.

Code Red explain why Little Violet needs a break from herself. She is losing her sanity.

Each day’s a drag as the moments lag, Little Violet can’t seem to find peace of mind. When she is killing time, she wishes she could hit rewind. She checks her phone and feels so alone. Itching to get herself out. But she is just stuck on this never-ending roundabout.

Trial and error. I don’t mean to scare ya but it is too late, you see. And now you must go on without Little Violet. Save yourself. Find someone else. Because she is a ticking time bomb who is about to blow. She’s hit code red. She needs to find a way out of her head. Nothing’s safe for her in there. But how can she trust her own reflection? Who’s comin’ to her rescue?

She is so close to the edge and is willing to let herself fall. It’s fight or flight. Which does her sacrifice? Reaching out hopelessly to her despair. People said Little Violet was beautiful on the inside and out. Will Little Violet ever just figure it out? What’s going on inside her head.

Other Side is about how everyone in life wants a slice of paradise. Everyone wants a piece of that pie when searching for fame, fortune, or paradise.

Some people search for fortune. Some people long for fame. Some people crave for paradise. Either way, they want a piece of the pie. They climb the ladder all the way. The ring is the price that we chase.

Your face in spotlight. Try as you might. You’re never satisfied. So swallow your pride and if you can find your paradise. Little Violet will see you on the other side.

You have needs and desires. You are a beautiful creature who wants to succeed but forget consequences and your moral compass. See, all of your effort’s in vain. Once you hide from spotlight. Try as you might. You were never satisfied.

Roll the Dice is about taking a chance in life.

Take Little Violet as you found her. A game that can’t be taught. Now don’t misunderstand her. It’s an eye for an eye if you get caught. Strike while it’s hot and don’t leave anything to chance. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity you cannot pass.

Why don’t you place your bet? Try your luck? See if you’ve got what it takes to come on top. The risk is small. But you could lose it all. All you’ve got to do is roll the dice.

However rolling the dice is an itch that will consume you. A shadow at your door that will haunt you. There’s no guarantee of winning when you roll the dice. Thing are uncertain when you roll the dice. Nobody’s safe there. The wheel will spin as you play to win. Keep your eyes on the prize. Take it in stride.

Taking You With Me is about Little Violent wanting to find the perfect man for her. However she has to make the right decisions based on her judgement. That if him and her are meant to be.

Here comes that million dollar question. Do we work things out or change our direction? The pros and cons are endless regardless of your obsession. So if Little Violent might make just one tiny suggestion. It might just do the trick. Little Violent tells the man she wants in her life, “Give us tonight and then we’ll pick. Give up the fight or make it stick. If you and I are meant to be, we’ll have to see what will be. But don’t forget our story might have just begun.”

Their history’s not concrete yet as they have to complicity rewrite their fate and take a step towards a new beginning and find their winning sound. The future is bright. If they take hold they can make it right.

Things start to pick when Little Violet says, “Let’s start a new beginning and find our winning sound I’m taking you with me. Nobody gets left behind.”

We’ve heard this tale before in legends when they immediately rush to their rescue when love is threatened The hero slays the beast to gain their vengeance.

Little Violet asks for the man to give her a chance to accept her love and to show what him what he has been missing. Things start to pick again when Little Violet tells him, “You think the grass is greener on the other side Could someone really make you a whole lot more satisfied? I’ll give you all my loving. Just give me the chance to show what you’ve been missing If you don’t come on and take my hand. Just gimme a shot and you’ll never look back. Just gimme a shot to get us back on track.”

Ask Little Violet no questions and she will tell you no lies. That is the gist of No Questions.

We have come to that spot in the road where you want the truth to be told. But come on now. Do you really want to hear all the ins and outs? How the story came about? I’m pretty sure of how this one ends. Such a dangerous move. What do you think sharing the past will prove? Ask Little Violet no questions and she will tell you no lies.

Little Violet learnt her lesson a long time ago by making the mistake of letting her ex-lover (him) know all of her innermost secrets. What a fool to believe the myth. Honesty brought her anything but bliss. Now she’ll never make the same mistake again

Trust me when I say Little Violet has been here before. Trust Little Violet when she says she has been here before. Once you open that door, you want to lock it and throw away the key. You really wish you could hit rewind. So the thought never entered your mind. It’s like you pull the trigger on yourself.

So you think you’re ready for the truth but she knows you will just follow suit. You want the dots to reconnect but all you’re going get is the domino effect. You want the dots to reconnect but she has got to object.

Little Violet wants her man to run away with her so they can both escape their problems and not have to face them. That is the plot of Runaway.

Little Violet tried to tell her man this before. But he got up and slammed the door. He says Little Violet is eccentric and is so pathetic to want more. They fight like cat and mouse as they burn down the house. She is suffocated and can’t breathe. Little Violet forgot her worth as she has no self-esteem. Her shattered heart is all dried up. The future’s bleak for her. Little Violet is out of luck and is running out of time.

She wants her man to run away with her. She tells him, “Runaway with me. Let’s escape and not come back. And no, not off the beaten track.”

She also tells her man, “You have no right to wipe my tеars. Never forget what brought us hеre. The scar reminds me who we are. The shallow grave is never far unless unlearned in love. A crime of passion. Still it hurts. I can’t remember who struck first. A memory I can’t forget. A stolen dream. How could I let you ever leave my sight?”

He’s making Little Violet nervous. It is really worth it for both of them. If self-destruction is Little Violet’s purpose, Then there’s only one way out of here. Little Violet tells her man he is making her nervous. She tells him, “You’re making me nervous. Are you really worth it? If self-destruction is my purpose, then I guess there’s only one way out of here.”

As they depart the ghost returns. Was it ever of his concern? Still, who Little Violet envies most of all are those who had a chance to fall and leap to the unknown. She shook the truth to play the game. Chaotic rumor was to blame. They won’t survive with or without. There is no choice. Little Violet has no doubt. Destruction is sublime.

Little Violet explains how she can be the hero, the villain, or the damsel in distress on the closer All the World’s A Stage. This song is about tragedy of love and protest.

The curtains close. Little Violet’s vision is hazy. The crowd has dispersed. They have all left her alone. You say it’s no big deal but good things must come to an end. Forget and be forgotten are her new best friends. If all the world’s a stage, men and women are merely players. Little Violet can’t predict the weather. Little Violet could be the hero, the villain, or the damsel in distress. A tragedy of love and protest.

The spotlight has gotten lost. Yet she still blinded and is yearning for the light from the spotlight. The light to sit beside her has gone. You say it’s no big deal but good things must come to an end. Forget and be forgotten are her new best friends. It don’t matter anymore. Nobody left demanding her encore. Now there’ll be no applause.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: Avril Lavigne – Under My Skin

Avril Lavigne’s sophomore album Under My Skin had a more darker sound identical to grunge rock than compared to her debut album Let Go. The album has such a dark mood. It was clear that Avril was more hands-on with this album. She had more of an input on decision making.

This album deals with issues the younger audiences can relate to such as depression, loneliness, heartbreaking relationships, fakeness, and love amongst others. Subjects and issues her adult contemporaries speak on. Nevertheless the album was a success amongst Avril Lavigne fans and the music market by going at least 4x platinum across the globe.

Take Me Away was derived from 2001 B-Sides album. Except this version of Take Me Away is a much more dark vivid version than the version on B-Sides as it is a metal track. That version was a much happier version than the version released on Under My Skin. Take Me Away was originally meant to be on Let Go but didn’t make the final track listing for whatever reason.

The song has a basic sequence of F#m-C#m-D–E as its chord progression. Her vocal range spans from B3 to D#5. Although her vocals range stays mostly in the B3 at moderate tempo of 99 BPM.

Take Me Away deals with Avril wanting someone to take her away from confusion going on inside her head. Avril cannot handle all the confusion going back and forth in her head. She cannot find a way to describe it. It’s there inside. All she does is hide. She just wishes that it would just go all away. What would you do if you knew? What would you do?

Avril cannot handle the confusion at all as evidenced in the chorus.

[Chorus]
All the pain I thought I knew
All the thoughts lead back to you
Back to what was never said
Back and forth inside my head
I can’t handle this confusion
I’m unable; come and take me away

Avril feels all alone by herself and has to get around this. Her words are cold. No one understands her. She’s going and getting nowhere. What would you do?

Nobody’s Home talks about a girl who has a lots of problems unresolved in her mind and how she is not getting anywhere. She obviously is on the wrong path. She wants to go home, but nobody’s home. She’s broken inside with no place to go.

Nobody’s Home has a catchy hook in a conversational tone. The song spoke to all the social outcasts in the world especially young girls and women trying to find their place in the world. The song showed that Avril was a force to be reckoned with as she understood the harsh realities of her fanbase. She was wise beyond her years with this dark song of hers.

These lyrics to Nobody’s Home hit hard and hit home. Especially lyrics to the bridge and chorus.

[Verse 1]
Well, I couldn’t tell you
Why she felt that way
She felt it every day
And I couldn’t help her
I just watched her make
The same mistakes again

[Verse 2]
Open your eyes (Open your eyes)
And look outside
Find the reasons why
You’ve been rejected (You’ve been rejected)
And now you can’t find
What you’ve left behind

[Pre-Chorus]
Be strong, be strong now (Be)
Too many, too many problems (Strong)
Don’t know where she belongs (No)
Where she belongs

[Chorus]
She wants to go home, but nobody’s home
That’s where she lies, broken inside
With no place to go, no place to go
To dry her eyes, broken inside

[Bridge]
Her feeling she hides, her dreams she can’t find
She’s losin’ her mind, she’s fallen behind
She can’t find her place, she’s losin’ her faith
She’s fallen from grace, she’s all over the place
Yeah

The song He Wasn’t is where Avril dumps a cheesy guy she dated after finding out he wasn’t exactly what she wanted personally. She did not expect this. So she bashes him throughout the entirety of this song. He Wasn’t showcases the punk rocker side of Avril Lavigne.

As cited in the chorus, Apparently a guy not getting the door for her really gets on her last nerves.

[Chorus]
He wasn’t what I wanted, what I thought, no
He wouldn’t even open up the door
He never made me feel like I was special
He isn’t really what I’m looking for
(Hey, hey, hey)
(Hey, hey, hey)

Take It illustrates Avril’s frustrations with invasive paparazzi intruding their way into every facet of her life. Take It was a song recorded by Avril Lavigne which was included as a B-side to the My Happy Ending single in 2004.

Avril is just trying to find some alone time and away from the spotlight so she can recuperate, get some rest, and live her life. There is no room to compromise. Clearly she can’t take it. The paparazzi flashes Avril Lavigne impolitely everywhere she goes out in public. That’s the way it’s done with the paparazzi.

The paparazzi sends a picture of Avril to a magazine without her consent or knowledge. Lyrics to chorus explain how invasion of privacy is not true photography.

[Chorus]
Just take it, take it
Can’t take it, take it
So send your picture to a magazine
Invasion’s not true photography
Is that what you always wanted to be?
Well I’d be worried for you

Invasion is not true photography. Invasion of privacy is not true photography. Avril is rightfully worried about her privacy. She wonders if she’ll get by in this life this time. She has to get away from this. Sometimes you gotta try to run and hide from the paparazzi.

Take your best shot to impress her. Write a fictional story for your fee. Try to get the world to believe your shocking headline surprise. Lyrics to Verse 2 expose the sensationalism any paparazzi creates.

[Verse 2]
Take your best shot, impress me
Write a fictional story for your fee
Try to get the world to believe
Shocking headline surprise

My Happy Ending is a song is about a turbulent relationship which went misconstrued. The relationship doesn’t work out for both people. She shows disappointment towards the relationship as both people have to deal with saying goodbye to all of the memories they had shared together in the relationship. Both people have to goodbye to the relationship they once had.

He was everything that Avril wanted. They were meant to be and supposed to be together but somehow they lost it all. And all of their memories so close to Avril now just fade away. So much for her happy ending. Avril realizes she is living a lie and now reality has overcome her. Now Avril wishes to escape from a broken relationship. The relationship isn’t far from behind her.

She tells him, “It’s nice to know that you were there. Thanks for acting like you cared and making me feel like I was the only one. It’s nice to know we had it all. Thanks for watching as I fall and letting me know we were done.”

Don’t Tell Me about being strong. There’s lot of guys out there who just want to take girls out to dinner just to have sex with them and all that shit. Guys can pressure them into doing anything. There’s a lot of pressure for girls these days. Avril is not like that girl who gives it all away.

Don’t Tell Me is also is about a relationship that doesn’t work out. A relationship is easily breakable. The song also deals with both people having to say goodbye to all of their precious memories held together that both people in the relationship once had. Even the biggest lovers can turn into strangers in a matter of days. That’s how love works sometimes.

Avril shows that she is fearless and will step up to any man in order to call them out for their behavior with her lyrics in Verse 2.

[Verse 2]
Don’t think that your charm
And the fact that your arm is now around my neck
Will get you in my pants
I’ll have to kick your ass to make you never forget
I’m gonna ask you to stop
I thought I liked you a lot, but I’m really upset (Really upset)
So get outta my head, get off of my bed
Yeah, that’s what I said

Avril realizes she is living a lie and now reality has overcome her on the song Together. Avril wishes to escape from a broken relationship, but refuses to. She feels she needs to be together with someone. It doesn’t feel right at all for her to be alone. The truth isn’t far behind her.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

Review: J. Cole – KOD

The album J. Cole – KOD was released exclusively under Roc Nation in April 2018 with streaming provided by TIDAL as this album is a digital download album. According to hiphopdx.com, KOD racked up 4.2 million streams in its first day on Spotify. However this J. Cole album has a more different sound. One way to describe the sound for this album is experimental. This is the sound that we are not used to from J. Cole. However that is not necessarily bad. KOD showcases J. Cole’s maturity was keeping subject material fresh with a young audience. On this album, J. Cole uses storytelling skills that similar in comparison to Kendrick Lamar.

The legend J. Cole wrote and produced the entirety of the album himself. All these songs of his are fire! Nowadays rappers can’t even write their own songs or lyrics let along produce beats. Half of these rappers don’t eve write their own lyrics.

J. Cole pays homage to jazz music by incorporating jazz and rap on the song ATM. The beats may be a bit unbalanced with the large piano in the background, but you will grow accustomed to like the song. Yes the lyrics are repetitive are annoying to some.

The beats are fire on the song Photograph. However the song seems to give away a sad vibe throughout the entirety of the song. Photograph deals with the modern horror of pursuing romance online. Especially with social media. An online romance goes downhill.

Once an Addict (Interlude) explored the topics of drug addiction and drug abuse. Once an Addict (Interlude) is a response to rap’s ongoing obsession with Promethazine and Xanax. The whole interlude is an anti-drug PSA announcement.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!
