Before Griselda, Action Bronson, Smoke DZA, Wale and a host of other modern Hip-Hop artists starting dropping wrestling references into there music, Detroit’s, Insane Clown Posse were the first act to bridge the gap between Hip-Hop and Pro Wrestling back in the 90’s!!!
Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J actually started wrestling, before making music, in the early 80’s as a part of there backyard promotion before moving on to professional training alongside, future ECW legends, Rob Van Dam and Sabu later in the decade before fully turning to music and forming the J.J. Boyz in 1989 (and later the Inner City Posse).
The duo have competed in national promotions such as WWF/E, WCW, ECW and Impact/TNA so they definitely have deep roots in the business and have established strong relationships, within it, too.
Also add in the fact they run there own promotion, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, and it’s hard to dispute the claim that they are the true O.G’s of Rap and Wrestling culture.
We’ve already mentioned on here that, after 30 years in the entertainment industry, I.C.P deserve there props and we at R.A.W Media, and Bout Dat Online, are here to give it!!!
So here’s to I.C.P and there contributions to both Hip-Hop and Pro Wrestling!!!
LEGENDS!!!
