Shady Records newest artist, Compton’s, Boogie dropped his major label debut, ‘Everything’s For Sale’, in January to great fanfare.
The album is amazing but one track in particular blew our minds and is probably one of the tracks of the year!!!
‘Swap Meet’ is a smooth, soulful, cut that uses a swap meet bargain as a metaphor for a woman which Boogie does so well, and beautifully, it’s hard for the record to not touch you and make you feel good!!!
We haven’t heard a Hip-Hop artist provide this much soul on wax, with such a great concept, since Andre 3000 gave the world ‘The Love Below’ back in 2004 (or a close comparison could be Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj’s stunning ‘Dark Side of The Moon from last years ‘Tha Carter V’ but, long term wise, Andre gets the love for that soulful Hip-Hop ish with fly concepts)!!!
We could have posted about the album but this track alone sells the project all by itself!!!
A truly remarkable song that we’d be surprised doesn’t end up on most peoples end of year lists (and it’s only February!)!!!
