J.Cole has returned with some of good old fashioned grown man raps that a guy like me, in my thirties, can appreciate and understand.
Over minimalistic production Cole touches on a number of deep topics (including fake friends, drug use and romance in the digital age) and it is done so effortlessly as only J.Cole can.
While ‘KOD’ may not be Cole’s best effort, in his extremely strong discography, it certainly doesn’t hurt it and continues to cement him as one of the greatest artists in Hip-Hop nowadays (especially if it is true that the only feature on the album, kiLL Edward is, in fact, Cole himself).
Highlights – ‘ATM’, ‘Once an Addict (Interlude)’, ‘Friends’.
